For the past 25 years John Murphy has contributed to Axios as a friend, mentor, consultant and director on our board. Johns influence has shaped our organizations philosophy, teamwork, customer service, and culture. Ultimately, he has helped drive the type of change needed for Axios to reach the Inc. 500 list of fastest growing companies six times and become the 4th largest employer in our region. It now seems entirely appropriate that John is sharing with us his finest work yet, Zentrepreneur. This is a must read for any organization or leader planning to deliver high performance results in the hyper-competitive global economy we live in today.

Johns sage advice via Zentrepreneur not only hits the core issues for successful entrepreneurship, but it hits the reader too, right at the core. In simple words, Johns zentrepreneur thinks positive, ideates well, takes risks and acts consistently, thus converting ideas into results and dreams into monumental organizations.
Dr. Amit Nagpal, author of The Seven Joys of Life, speaker, and coach, www.dramitnagpal.com
John Murphy is the quintessential leader for this unique time on earth, a time in which old paradigms of success are being questioned and we must see outside the box if we intend to succeed. In Zentrepreneur, John helps us to recognize that each of us is, in fact, confined by the box which is nothing more than our own self-imposed limitations. He then leads us out by sharing real and raw experiences of great successes and painful losses from his own life and skillfully guiding us to awaken the zentrepreneur that lies within.
Debra Poneman, best-selling author and founder of Yes to Success Seminars, Inc.

Acknowledgments
I begin every day with gratitude. There is no quicker way to transcend the ego thought system than with appreciation and thanks. Couple this with the Law of Attraction, and you bring into your life many more things to be thankful for. What better way to pray than to simply give thanks for your fingers, toes, eyesight, work, family, home, friends, and the abundance of opportunity that surrounds you? I even give thanks for my problems and challenges, quickly challenging the temptation to feel grief and interpret these outcomes as bad. Maybe they are not! Maybe they are exactly what I need, exactly when I need them, to learn more about myself. Maybe they are gifts, blessings in disguise.
Countless people deserve thanks for this book, and I offer many examples of this throughout the book. People all over the world have offered me insights and ideas on how to apply zentrepreneurial thinking to everyday situations. I thank my parents, grandparents, children, siblings, ex-wife, clients, colleagues, students, agent, publisher, publicist, girlfriend, and the masters of the agesall of whom have inspired me and contributed to this book in one way or another. I also thank God and the Holy Spirit for allowing me and directing me to share what I can to make this world a place of joy, peace, and freedom. I am deeply grateful.

Foreword
My teaching is like a finger pointing to the moon.
Do not mistake the finger for the moon.
Buddha
When John Murphy asked me to write a foreword for Zentrepreneur, I was deeply honored and excited. During the past 25 years, John and I have traveled on parallel paths in our separate journeys of leading and facilitating business cultural transformations. We have both been called Lean Sensei or highly respected teachers where our roles were to work through teams and others, teaching and guiding them to bring ideas from the point of disorder to concept, and then into a place of reality delivering sustainable results. Our quests were to help change (kai) a place, time, a situation, a process for the better (zen). It was the drive for us to bring kaizen into reality, enabling continuous change of these ideas to make things better. I know and respect Johns work in driving and leading change. His teachings provide unique insights into the how to make the change happen, and how to move from one point of being to another. Johns work is more like a foundational instruction manual rather than just an esoteric examination into continuous improvement and excellence. Let me elaborate on this further.
