This work is primarily dedicated to the following:
To light, truth, wisdom, beauty, strength, love and all who seek them.
To my Guardian Angel, the Great Master within, the True Image of God in me, and the subject of my adoration.
To my worldly source of support and inspiration, especially my lovely life mate, Mwajuma; my daughter, Laliya; my sons, Alimasi, Joseph Jr., and Wisdomwhose unconditional love and limitless patience sustain my faith, courage, and determination to act upon my daily duty to the best of my ability, maybe not perfectly but at least joyfully.
To my beloved parents, Makano Sr. and Laliya, whom I promised to lead a life they would never be ashamed of and whom I hope and trust are flipping the pages of this work from higher and better dimensions of life.
There is contagiousness in every example of energetic conduct. The brave man is an inspiration to the weak, and compels them, as it were, to follow him.
Samuel Smiles (in Haddock, Power of Will )
Keep cool and you command everybody.
Louis de Saint-Just
When a soul succeeds in convincing others that it is genuinely possessed by an eternal truth or principle, the Infinite steps in and accords him a public coronation as leader.
Frank Channing Haddock, Power of Will
In the fullest sense, a strong Will for control of others is a right Will. Yet it seems true that not all such control is explicable on the theory of plain means and methods. What is the secret of the power which cowes the wild beast, compelling its eyes to wander from the steady gaze of man? What bows the stubborn purpose of the would-be criminal when confronted by the resolute fearless gaze of his victimin that deadly Indian hug in which men wrestle with eyes? What maintains the mastery of family, school, prison, when some quiet sprit walks among their inmates? It is not always fear, for his punishment may not be unduly severe. It is not always love, for he sometimes fails to inspire affection. It is personality centered in unyielding Will-power.
Frank Channing Haddock, Power of Will )
If you would work on any man, you must either know his nature and fashions, and so lead him; or his ends, and so persuade him; or weaknesses and disadvantages, and so awe him; or those that have interest in him, and so govern him.
Francis Bacon
Early on in my life, I started thinking about those mind-boggling questions that have eluded mankind for ages, such as the following: Why are we here? How did life begin? Who created the universe? Who is God? Does He have parents? And so on. These questions have challenged children of Earth since the dawn of time. While I cannot say that humanity has wasted time pondering questions to which he will never find definite answers, it is my conviction that science, philosophy, religion, and art are direct outgrowths of these inquiries, and that is a good thing.
Whilst those questions have preoccupied my thoughts, I have tried not to torment my mind with something that is better off left to prophets and mythologists. Instead, I sought answers to equally vital yet more practical questions that preoccupied my mind for as long: What does it take to win the hearts of our fellows? Why are some people more popular than others with just little noticeable effort, while others are not, despite great visible effort? These questions are so practical that anyone who invests sufficient time of serious study will see obvious results from his own experience.
Although initially I sought the understanding of these issues for the pleasure of my own curiosity, as I found myself in the course of discovering one precious secret after another behind the mysteries of personal magnetism, the obvious thing to do was to record what I was amazed to be learning. Thus, my curiosity expanded one step further. As I was given freely by sages of old who forwarded these treasures through generations down to our time and beyond, I thought it would be a great privilege to become a tool of those sagesnot only to help spread this knowledge among my contemporaries but also to assist in forwarding it to generations to come by putting their wisdom in written form. Thus, the purpose of this work. I have no doubt this work will make great impact on the lives of those who want to extract the most from life by practicing principles herein detailed.
The finding of these principles, of course, required a very good understanding of the mysteries of love. In case you have not investigated, let me tell you, my reader, it is relatively easier for a person to love when his aim is to love others, but it is much harder when he craves to be loved, to find someone who will genuinely love him. To be modest here, it requires more than average effort to love, but it requires extraordinary effortssometimes deadly effortsto genuinely win the hearts of our fellow men. History is full of people who lost their lives prematurely by asking their fellow men for nothing more than love and compassion.
For some reason, when you truly love something and humanity, you can achieve a lot; but when you love and are loved by the people of your time, you can not only achieve the extraordinary, but can also literally become a demigod in their minds, entirely adored and empowered.
In this book, I have labored painstakingly to take the scary out of personal magnetism or charisma. Here, you will find fear-free yet powerful, practical, secret wisdomknowledge of the agespresented in the simplest terms possible. It will show you how to love and, most importantly, how to win the hearts of your fellow men, gain their total trust and loyalty, set yourself apart as you build an unshakable foundation of your personal magnetism, and rise and shine above the crowds. Thus, out of the many, you will become your true self, a guiding light of the masses.
