    CONTENTS

    Introduction
    Why we wrote this book

IT WAS AROUNDTHE 10TH NETWORKING event of my life that I felt thatsomething was amiss. It was close to the 50th that Istarted to get a handle on what was wrong with the events I wasgoing to. Finally, after attending hundreds of events was I finallyable to vocalise what my issue was.

    I hated networking.

I hated the constant sales pitches, I hated the fauxniceties, but most of all I hated how much of my time it wastaking. I was going to three networking events a week, spending 12hours Monday to Friday (and the occasional weekend tradeshow)standing around in a suit meeting people who, although excellentbusiness people, I wasnt gelling with.

    And then, suddenly! A breakthrough!

After another night of meeting new people, my innerpocket brimming with business cards to follow-up on the next day, Irealised what I was doing wrong. I love meeting people, I lovespending time with passionate people, I love connecting people andseeing those relationships come to fruition, so why was I havingsuch a bad time?

Night after night I was meeting people that woresuits of armour with Italian labels. I was meeting people so welltrained at meeting people that I may as well have been on ahand-shaking conveyor belt. Everyone was so polite, so formal, sounbalanced. Not unbalanced in an insane way, I mean in a way thatwas too shiny, too pristine. I was looking for business partners, and I needed to see if after theyd been through the mud and muck, theyd still have that smile, composure, and grace.

It doesnt matter if theyre a vendor, a supplier,or a client. If youre buying or selling something to someone, youre going into business with them. Youve got to knowthat theyre a good bet, see how they are under pressure, if theycan take a hit and get-up.

I wrote this book to detail the tactics andtechniques that I use on a daily basis to find, talk to, andmagnetically attract the right people into my life. I literallycannot stop meeting amazing, genuine, go-getting people.Half the time, theyre the ones that approach me!

How to tell if youre ready forthis book

If, like me, youre looking to draw incredibly smartbusiness minds into your circle then youre in the right place. Butbefore we go into this, I want to make sure that youre ready toreceive the information Im about to tell you.

The first thing you need to have is the willingnessto push yourself outside of your comfort zone. One of the traitsthis book will have you practice and understand is how to becomfortable in any situation. Part of social magnetism isprojecting out into the world Dont worry team, Ive gotthis, which didnt come naturally to me and is a skill thatneeds to be developed.

The second must-have is the time and drive tosit-down and complete the exercises that weve written. Ive readhundreds of books like this one, and the only ones that haveactually helped me are the books thats lessons Ive actively putinto my life. A book is worthless if you mentally accept what ithas to say, but dont physically put into practice the lessons infront of you.

The final essential is a desire to create somethingbigger than yourself. This may be a business, a charitable project,or even change the zeitgeist of our age! It doesnt matter whatstage of the journey youre at, if youve just had an idea, are asolo-preneur treading water, or if youve got 100,000 followers onTwitter. You need to have something thats greater than you. Why?

    Greatness attracts greatness.

Unless youre working toward something phenomenalyou wont find phenomenal people that want to be a part of whatyoure doing.

What youre going to get from reading this book

This book is about evolving your inner world andouter world at the same time, to ensure that the two are congruentwith each other. Congruency is when your outer world reflects yourinner beliefs and understanding about the types of people youshould be hanging out with.

By reading this book and completing the exercises, your inner world will evolve and youll:

Have a deep understanding of the value that you canprovide others

Build an authentic confidence that will radiate outof yourself

Understand the innate charm of compassion, empathy, and figuring out what people really want

At the same time, well be working on evolving yourouter world as well, including:

Building a life around meeting brilliant businessminds, doing things that you love to do

Having a clear understanding of whathigh-performance, high-achieving people value, and how to providethat value

Creating a personal narrative around your life thatstops people saying, Who is this person? and start saying, WhoIS this person?!

In the next 10 chapters, Im going to share with youeverything Ive learned about being socially magnetic. Its notjust business that the techniques have helped me with, its helpedintegrate my business life with my personal life so that they dontfeel soat odds. The skills have also deepened my existingrelationships with friends and family, by developing a widerunderstanding of the intricacies of communication.

All of the exercises and lessons in this book arefrom situations and experiences that Ive personally been throughand Ive made all the mistakes so that you dont have to.

Thanks for picking up this book, it was an absoluteblast to write and I cant wait to teach you guys how to becomeSocially Magnetic.
