Foreword

My dad made a big deal out of family vacations. He enjoyed preparing for a trip as much as the trip itself. Our vacations always consisted of a long road trip that began at our home in West Texas and ended up in a campground. Colorado was a favorite destination. He was even known to take us as far as Yellowstone or the Grand Canyon. Weeks before we left, he would start planning the route. He had no internet or GPS; he planned his trips the old-fashioned way. He used a map.

He would trace out the journey with a highlighter. He circled the campgrounds and made notes of the highway numbers. And once he had his plans, he shared them with us.

My brother and I were just kids, single digit in age and inexperienced in the ways of the road. So my dad would sit us at the table on the eve of departure and tell us what to expect.

When we drive through New Mexico, its going to get windy.

When we reach the mountains, your ears will pop.

Youll know we are almost to the campground when you see snow on the mountain peaks.

He told us what to look for. And wouldnt you know it, he was right. The wind did blow. Our ears did pop. And the snowy peaks were the last thing we saw before we reached our destination.

My father told us what to expect.

Our heavenly Father has done the same.

Did you know that 30 percent of your Bible is prophecy? Entire volumes such as Isaiah, Ezekiel, Daniel, and Revelation are prophetic. To dismiss prophecy is to dismiss one-third of the Bible. Yet many people do. They do because prophecy can be complicated and teachers of prophecy can be opinionated. Just give me Psalm 23 and the Lords Prayer, some say. I can make sense out of those passages.
