Every time I speak on the subject of girls, I talk about how profoundly hard girls are on themselves. And then, I turn to the moms in the room and say, And you are grown up little girls. This book speaks to the grown-up girl inside of youwho is still profoundly hard on herself, but has found those myths youve believed since somewhere around the age of 13 even more twisted around your heart. I am thrilled to introduce you to Kim Anderson. Her voice is one I trust deeply. Its a voice of compassion, wisdom, warmth, and refreshing truth. This book will help free you from those myths and discover more of who she is cheering you on to be through every page of this bookyou!

A special thank you to my family, Dave, Keilah, and Luke. Your patience, support, and encouragement mean everything to me. You picked up the slack where I dropped balls in this process, never complaining. You inspire me toward continuous growth and I am grateful for you.
And to the women who have sat with me and shared their stories, thank you for trusting me. I believe your courage will empower others to face their own journeys.
Introduction
T his is the part of the book where I tell you why I am writing. Let me start by saying that Im not writing because the process of writingsitting for uninterrupted periods of time with only my laptop for companyintrigues me. In fact, sitting alone goes against my extroverted nature. I would rather be doing almost anything than sitting by myself, trying to explain my thoughts through carefully constructed sentences.
Instead, I would much rather be sitting with you at your local coffee shop, getting to know you over a latte. Through conversation, I would learn your story, your struggles, and your hopes and dreams. You might tell me about thoughts and patterns that are keeping you stuck, coming between you and the life you desire. I would want to join with you on your journey, pulling out your inner brilliance and calling attention to all the strengths and resources you already have.
Me and you and a latte thats how I wish this could go down. I would never choose to sit down by myself and write it all out to you. But, over time, I felt the Lord nudging me to share these messages with a wider audiencemaking the whole coffee shop idea seem a little less feasible.
