Chapter 1:
How Will You Choose To Live Your Life?
Picture 6

H ow will you choose to live your life? This is something that only you have the power to decide.

We all want different things. As individuals, we are all unique and we have our own ideas about what it means to live a meaningful life. Some treasure family, friends, and relationships above all else, while others prioritise money, material things, careers, and productivity. There is no right or wrong to pursue or place any of these things on a pedestal. If your dream is to build a multi-billion dollar company, then go ahead and chase that dream. If you prioritise just being as stress-free as possible, to do as little work as you can, well you can choose to structure your life in such a way as well. As long as it works for you and that you are happy doing so, I would say go for it.

Sure, your priorities might change as you get older and wiser. Embrace that change. We are not always met to move in a linear fashion in life. We should learn to live like water, being fluid, ever-changing, ever-growing, ever-evolving. Our interests, priorities, passions, all change as we move from one stage of life to the next.

Some only realise that they might want to focus on relationships at a certain point in their lives, some might only want to start a family when they reach a certain age. The point is that we never truly know when is the time when we might feel ready to do something, as much as well tell ourselves that we will know.

The best thing we can do for ourselves right now, in this very moment, is to do what we think is best for us right now, and then to make tweaks and adjustments along the way as we travel down that road faithfully.

Trying to plan and control every aspects of our lives rarely ever works out how we imagined it. You see, life will give us lemons, but it can also give us durians. We might get thrown off the road through unexpected changes. Things that challenge our beliefs and our priorities. Health issues, family tragedies, financial meltdowns, natural disasters, these are things that we can never plan for. We may either choose to come out of these things with a clearer plan for our next phase of life, or we may choose to give up and not try anymore.

All of us have the power to choose how we want to live our lives in this very moment. The worst thing you can do right now is not know what your priorities are and to just cruise through life without having at least a short-term vision on what you want to get out of it.

Take the time to reflect every single day to work on that goal, however scary or simple it may be. Never take your eye off the post and just keep traveling down that path until you reach a fork in the road.

Picture 11

I t would be best if you were above average in gaining knowledge to predict the outcome of your move. If you want to plan long-term success in life, you need to understand the situations according to your needs. Always keep your mind open for excessive knowledge. Be hungry for it. Take steps towards self-improvement. Socialize with people who are more knowledgeable or experienced than you are. Learning should always be one of the priorities. Challenge yourself for more daily. As its said, if you are the smartest person in the room, you are in the wrong room. Understand that you will always need more to expand in life and be successful in life.

Picture 12

I t would be best to keep in mind that not every step of yours will go as planned. Get yourself ready for rejection. You should not be scared of getting a rejection, but take it as a constructive opportunity to build yourself stronger for the next time. Your part should be fulfilled correctly. Hard work should be done, and the right choices should be made. In this case, advice should be taken too. You should not completely rely on someone, but a companion can be comforting. Always appreciate your co-workers and superior. That will help you in the future and your long-term game for success in life. Just keep in mind that the fear of rejection is useless.

S haping your path is a difficult task and a very important opportunity. When you are forming your way of life, one of the most important things will be the type of people you will meet. You should be careful about the kind of people that surround you. As it is said, one bad company can ruin all. This is true in a sense. Keep supportive and smart people by your side. Your long-term friendship or relationship can affect your life in many ways. It may change the outcome completely. Now, we would not want just anyone to come and take that part. That is why choosing the best people to surround you matters the most.

ure to have lots of fun in between the work. In the end, your hard work will pay off, and everything will feel like it was worth doing all the work for.
