Section 1: Release and Let Go
G ive up your mind to the sound of my voice. Relax your body into space where you are lying down. Breathe into your lungs and all the way down into your abdomen. Release the breath slowly and steadily. Your work is gone for the moment. Your plans and agendas can drift away from you at this time. Feel the space around you. Take a few breaths in and out to connect to your body in this position.
Here in this space, you are safe to fully relax. You begin this meditation as you are. You have no need to change anything about the space, about yourself, about where you are right now in this moment. As you come into awareness about the space around you, the place you are lying down, the air in the room, the subtle and quiet sounds of the world outside, you begin to fall a little deeper into yourself as you begin to release and let go.
- Close your eyes and take a deep breath in. Let the breath flow gently into your nostrils. Imagine you are breathing in the fresh air of spring, clear, clean and cool. As you fill your lungs with air, hold the breath in for just a moment before you slowly let it out again, like you are blowing the seeds off of a dandelion into the wind.
- Forget the world outside as you take another deep, relaxing breath in, pause before releasing, and then let it go. On your next inhale, imagine that you are breathing in all of your daily life problems. The work, the tasks, the challenging relationships, the frustrations, your anxiety. Breathe it into your lungs and see it filling you up. Collect it all in one space and hold it for a moment.
- Now, as you release your breath and all of the thoughts and ideas you breathed in, you can fully release and let go on a long, slow exhale. Breathe out all of the issues. Breathe out all of the frustrations, doubts, and fears. Feel them release from your body as you exhale completely.
- Take another long, slow breath in through your nose, pulling in all of the stress from the outside world. Whatever it is, take it in like you are breathing in all of the problems that are causing you stress so that you can fully release them on the exhale. Once your lungs are full, pause and hold the breath for a moment, and then slowly release it in a long exhale.
