Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder
Professor Kevin Gournay CBE is a registered psychologist, chartered scientist and a registered nurse who is an emeritus professor at the Institute of Psychiatry, Kings College, London. Over more than 35 years, he has had extensive clinical experience in the treatment of adult and child victims of post-traumatic stress. He has been responsible for the assessment and treatment of people who have been through a range of traumatic events. These include the Moorgate tube accident (1975), the Kings Cross fire (1987), the sinking of the Herald of Free Enterprise ferry (1987), the Paddington and Potters Bar rail crashes (1995 and 2002), and the terrorist bombings of 2005. He has also treated and assessed people involved in various domestic, industrial and road traffic accidents and other trauma, including war- and crime-related events and medical negligence.
