Guide

Hi, friend!

My name is Pastor Louie. We may have met before if youve read my previous kids book, Indescribable, or maybe you or your parents picked up this book because, like me, you want to learn more about God and the incredible things He makes.

But do you want to know something that blows my mind? You and I can never learn everything there is to know about God. Hes limitless, which means theres always something more to discover about Him! Thats why scientists, astronomers, doctors, and researchers are always uncovering new things about His creationin the depths of the universe and in the world around us. Like figuring out how something glows in the dark. Or finding the blue supergiant star we named Rigel. Or learning what makes a bloodhound such an excellent tracker.

Like Indescribable, the book youre holding is filled with 100 devotions, and each one focuses on a unique and incredible thing God created throughout the universe. Gods Word, the Bible, says that even though we cant see God with our physical eyes, we can learn what He is like by seeing and studying everything He has made (Romans 1:20). That means all of creationfrom the far-away stars that only the strongest telescope can see to the tiniest cells in your pinky toenailtells us something about God.

I think God is delighted when we focus our minds and hearts on learning about Him and what He has made. I hope these devotions help you do just that! Ive asked some trusted friends to join us on the journey. (You may remember them from Indescribable!) Meet six kids who are growing and learning just like you: Evyn, Raz, Norah, Joshua, Clarke, and Adelynn.

Each day well read together about a different part of Gods creation be amazed - photo 2

Each day well read together about a different part of Gods creation, be amazed by scientific facts, talk with God in prayer, and grow deeper in knowledge that will fill up our hearts and our minds.

If youd like to focus on learning about a specific part of creation, feel free to skip to different parts of the book. Well talk about four major topics:

As you read, remember that the same God who made you and knows everything about you is inviting you to know and learn about Him. Im so glad youre on this journey with me to discover more of who He is. God has so much in store for you.

Enjoy the adventure ahead!

Pastor Louie

Who knows, you may have been chosen queen for just such a time as this.

ESTHER 4:14 ICB

You remember the story about Goldilocks and the three bears, right? While Mama, Papa, and Baby Bear are out for a walk, Goldilocks helps herself to their porridge, chairs, and beds, testing each one in turn until she finds the one thats juuust right. While Goldilocks could learn a thing or two about manners, theres something to be said for things being just right. Like our Earth. Its in just the right spot for lifea place scientists call the Goldilocks Zone, or the Habitable Zone for you more scientific types. Earth isnt too close to the Sun (which would burn us to a crisp) or too far away (which would turn our planet into a big, round popsicle).

In all the vastness of space God placed Earth in just the right spot for life - photo 7

In all the vastness of space, God placed Earth in just the right spot for life. And guess what elseGod places each of His people in just the right spot, just as carefully. Like long ago when He placed Queen Esther in just the right spot to save her people. You can read this incredible story in the Old Testament book of Esther.

Now, you might look up at all the starsor even at all the 7.6 billion people in the worldand start to feel very small, maybe even unimportant. But remember this: the God of all creation chose you to be His own, and He put you in the right spot to play an important part in His kingdom. Yes, you may be small, but you are prized by Majesty. And you have been sent for by the God of all creation. Now, how great is that?

Dear God, when I start to feel small or unimportant, help me remember that You made me just right and chose me to be Yours.

HOW GREAT!

Fifteen different Goldilocks factors make conditions perfect for life on Earththings like how much water we have, the Moons pull on the Earth, our spot in the Milky Way galaxy, and more. The fact that Earth meets these conditions is so amazing that some astronomers have estimated the chances of there being another planet like ours in the universe to be around 1 in 700 quintillionor 1 in 700,000,000,000,000,000,000!

He is the Maker of heaven and earth the sea and everything in them PSALM - photo 8

He is the Maker of heaven and earth, the sea, and everything in them.

PSALM 146:6 NIV

The first verse of the Bible, Genesis 1:1, tells us that in the beginning, before there was an Earth or people or the starry sky, God existed. That same verse and the ones that follow tell us He Himself created the heavens and the Earth... and life! Everything we see is a product of His creativity. One of the coolest things about studying science is discovering how miraculously detailed Gods creation isfrom the tiny hairs on your head to the massive mountains and stars.

God created living things with some essential building blocks called peptides - photo 9

God created living things with some essential building blocks called peptides. (It sounds just like it looks: PEP-tides.) When joined with other chemicals, peptides help make a cell, and cells are the basic parts of every living thing.

HOW GREAT

Peptides are in every one of the estimated 37.2 trillion cells in your body! There are many different types of peptides, and each has a special role in maintaining your overall health. Some peptides help your muscles grow and repair, while others carry messages throughout the body.

L - glutamine

Peptides are so tiny that we cant see them without the help of some mega-powerful microscopes. But just because theyre small doesnt mean theyre simple! Each peptide is made of two or more chemical components called amino acids, which need to be joined in just the right way to create the variety of peptides our bodies need to function properly. The chances of that happening by accident are slimabout 1 in 10 duodecillion, or 10,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000. Thats a 1 with 40 zeroes after it! Sound impossible? Not with God!
