IT IS IMPORTANT TO HAVE
A GODLY PERSPECTIVE
Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature; because I have refused him: for the L ord seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the L ord looketh on the heart.
1 SAMUEL 16:7
T he word perspective means your point of view. A godly perspective means seeing things through the eyes of God.
When Samuel was sent to anoint the next king, he assumed it would be Davids older brother because he was tall and handsome. And it came to pass, when they were come, that he looked on Eliab, and said, Surely the L ord s anointed is before him (1 Sam. 16:6).
God told him not to look at him from a natural perspective. As Christians we must learn to look at things from Gods perspective. Some people have specific qualities they look out for before choosing a life partner. They are mostly concerned about the physical qualities. Some do not want to marry tall or short men, etc. With God it is different.
Jesus said in Luke 16:15, Ye are they which justify yourselves before men; but God knoweth your hearts: for that which is highly esteemed among men is abomination in the sight of God.
Let us learn to have a godly perspective. Choose today to look at things from Gods perspective!
INFORMATION CAN GROW YOUR SEED
A wise man is strong; yea, a man
of knowledge increaseth strength.
PROVERBS 24:5
Y ears ago when I was a student I decided to rest under a shade after walking several hours in the scorching sun. As I stood under the shade, a Scripture dropped in my spirit, The sun shall not smite thee by day, nor the moon by night (Ps. 121:6). Immediately I made a decision to buy a car.
As a student, how was I going to achieve that?
Suddenly I noticed that I was standing in front of a small book-making factory. I entered the shop and made enquiries. Later I decided to learn the trade. With my last money I invested in these books and started selling them, and I saw my money multiply.
With time, I purchased the car.
Knowledge caused my money (seed) to grow. Make sure you increase your knowledge!
LIFE IS LIKE AN EXAM; GET IT RIGHT
And the younger of them said to his father, Father, give me the portion of goods
that falleth to me. And he divided unto them his living. And when he had spent all,
there arose a mighty famine in that land;
and he began to be in want.
LUKE 15:12, 14
L ife is like an exam. When you are writing a paper, you may have about a hundred multiple-choice questions to answer. Your job will be to decide and pick the right answer. As you keep answering from question one through to one hundred, you would have decided on every single question. At the end, every answer is going to be put together and a mark will be given. The mark you get will be dependent on the decisions you made whilst answering every individual question.
At the end of the exam, some people may fail; others may pass. Those who failed did not fail on just one question; they made the wrong decision concerning many questions.
One of the most important skills to develop in life is your ability to take good decisions. Life will bring up series of questions: How are you going to feed yourself? How are you going to provide accommodation for yourself? Who are you going to marry? There is only one answer, and you must get it right.
Gods Word is the answer sheet to many of lifes questions. Make sure you read it so you can provide the right answers!
MONEY CANT LOVE YOU BACK
For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
JOHN 3:16
O ne time I saw an inscription on a bus that read, Money cant love you back. You can love money, but it is not possible for it to love you back. Why? Because money has no emotions.
I was once chatting with an unmarried woman who told me she did not need love; she needed money. I was sad for her, because love is more important than money. The most important things in life are free; they cannot be bought. An example is air.
Love is something every creature responds to. Even wild animals respond to love. There is a longing in all creation, including humans, to be loved. Without love, a void will always be in your heart. I appreciate it when my wife and children show love to me.
To fill this void called love, God sent His Son to die for us. Gods first response to humanity was not to give us money, but to show us love.
Until we respond to the love of God, we will always have a void. We can do this by accepting Jesus into our hearts. Romans 5:8 reads, But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
Accept Jesus into your heart if you have not, and experience His love!
POWER TO ENJOY
There is an evil which I have seen under the sun, and it is common among men: a man to whom God hath given riches, wealth, and honour, so that he wanteth nothing for his soul of all that he desireth, yet God giveth him not power to eat thereof, but a stranger eateth it: this is vanity, and it is an evil disease.
ECCLESIASTES 6:1-2
D iseases are not only physical in nature, but spiritual also. You can have children and not enjoy them. You can eat and not enjoy it. You can buy a nice TV and never unpack it.
You can marry the most beautiful woman and not enjoy your marriage. Prince Charles married a very beautiful woman called Lady Diana; a woman that people dreamed about. They had a royal wedding and the whole world watched it. It was a big wedding! However, Prince Charles never enjoyed the marriage.
Your inability to enjoy what you have is a spiritual disease. Until God gives you the power to enjoy what you have, you cannot enjoy it.
Make sure you develop a good relationship with God to avoid catching this deadly spiritual virus!
DO RIGHTEOUS PEOPLE FAIL?
For a just man falleth seven times,
and riseth up again.
PROVERBS 24:16
T he book of Job opens with a comment on the righteousness nature of Job. He was a man who feared God and eschewed evil. He went through many tribulations and eventually lost everything except his wife.
Sometimes we think Christianity is such that we do not have to go through challenges, tribulations, or crises. Because of this mentality we do not expect good people to fail. We get so shocked and confused when we find ourselves in dark valleys.
Maybe you are dealing with a sickness or disease, loneliness, or financial difficulty, and you are blaming God for allowing these things to happen to you. One fact remains: you are not exempted from failing simply because you serve God.
Jobs friends blamed God for all that happened to him. They came up with all sorts of reasons. That is one thing about spiritual people; they always want to find a reason for everything. Finally God vindicated Job by making a comment on the whole situation.
