Step 2 Came to believe that a power greater than ourselves could restore us to - photo 1

Step 2

Came to believe that a power greater than ourselves could restore us to sanity.

For it is God who works in you to will and to act according to his good purpose. (Philippians 2:13)

Hope

Defined as a feeling of expectation and desire for a certain thing to happen.

A feeling of trust.

The feeling that what is wanted can be had or that events will turn out for the best (Dictionary.com)

Hi, My Name Is Hope

When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put the ways of childhood behind me. For now we see only a reflection as in a mirror, then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I fully known. And, now these three remain: faith, hope, and love. But the greatest of these is love. 1 Corinthians 13:13 (NIV)

I have now come into the reality that there is a power greater than myself that could restore me from the insanity that I just came through.

My umbilical cord have been cut and I have been released from the yoke that had me in bondage. I have been given an opportunity to know the Power that resides in me that no matter where this earthly journey might take me I will always have it within me. To save me from me. As I grow to know this power within me it reminds me that it is a lamp unto my feet, and a light on my path. (Psalm 119:105)

He will never fail me nor abandon me. (Deuteronomy 31:6)

Jesus Is the Answer

Jesus said, My Grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness (2 Corinthians 12:9).

I know now for sure that there is a power that resides in me that I can call on and He will answer. Ive learned that this Power has a name and it is Jesus! Ive learned that I can trust Him to guide me through the storms of life.

I tell you when an addiction of any kind take authority in your life you will need a Power like Jesus to loose you from the bondage that you have entangled yourself to.

As a Dog returns to its vomit, so a fool repeats his foolishness. (Proverbs 26:11,
Life Recovery Bible).

But you belong to God, my dear children, you have already won a victory over those people, because the spirit who lives in you is greater than the spirit that lives in the world. (1 John 4:4)

We put our Hope in the Lord. He is our help and our shield. In him our hearts rejoice, for we trust in his holy name. Let your unfailing love surround us, Lord, for our Hope is in you alone. (Psalms 33:2022)

Step 3

Made a decision to turn our will and our lives over to the care of God as we understood Him.

Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of gods mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God which is your spiritual worship. (Romans 12:1)

Decision

A conclusion or resolution reached after consideration.

The action or process of deciding something or of resolving a questioning.

A formal judgment

Hi, My Name Is Decision

It can be very difficult at times, whether to do this or to do that or just do nothing. Ive learned with Jesus, He is a decision maker, if you call on Him.

Why spend so much time thinking and considering the whats, hows, and whys when if we ask Jesus he will direct our paths. Isnt that what He said he would do, be the lamp unto our feet and a light unto my path. (Psalm 119:105)

I have made a decision to put my trust in God as I understand Him. For many years, I put my trust in people and it brought pain and disappointment.

God is not a man, so he does not lie. He is not human, so he does not change his mind. (Numbers 23:19)

I know that I will still have times when I struggle with this area in my life, making decisions.

I have not achieved it, but I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead. (Philippians 3:13, NLT)

All Aboard!

So you finally made the decision to turn your will over to the care of God as you know Him. You are sick and tired of yourself at this point. You need help!

There is transportation coming to get you, but the conductor said that in order to get on you must be ready to:

  • Be honest to yourself that your life has become unmanageable.
  • Have hope in wanting everything back that you lost while you were in your destructive lifestyle.
  • Have faith to believe without a doubt that what you hope for will come to pass.
  • Know that it will take much courage to win this war.

Realize this is a spiritual war that you are going through. And you have already been equipped to win! So gear up! The battle is not yours, its the Lords.
(2 Chronicles 20:1517) Hes already won it for you!

You will not need to fight this battle, just position yourself by establishing a relationship with your creator God, and continue to pray for His will in your life and not yours. Stand still and see the salvation of the Lord.

Dont Trip, Chocolate Chip, Because God is in Control.

Step 4

Made a searching and fearless moral inventory of ourselves.

Let us examine our ways and test them, and let us return to the Lord. (Lamentation 3:40)

Inventory

Identifying areas in our life that acknowledge whats working and balanced and whats out of balance and not working.

Hi, This Was My Inventory

  • Identity: Not understanding my purpose.

Dont copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. (Romans 12:2)

  • Denial: Pretending nothings wrong when really it is.

Seek God with all your heart and your soul. (Deuteronomy 4:29)

  • Fornication: Sexual intercourse between people not married.

Know that your bodies are the temple of the Holy Spirit who is me. (1 Corinthians 6:19)

  • Acceptance: The action or process of being received

I am more than a conqueror. If God is for me who can be against me. (Romans 8:31)

  • Judging: Form an opinion or conclusion about someone

Do not Judge others and you will not be judged. (Matthew 7:12)

Checkup

Me: Im sick and I dont know whats wrong with me.

God: Well, let us examine what could be wrong. This checkup will call for me to go into your secret place. Is that OK?

Me: I dont know, God, I just have this feeling that I am not feeling like I should be feeling.

God: Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest (Matthew 11:28, NIV).

Me: God, how can I rest when all hell is breaking out within me? Im not happy, so I make everyone around me unhappy too. Everyone sees things about my character that I just cant seem to see. They say I am in denial. I am a fornicator and a liar. I know that this is not of you. But I continue to do these things because I want to be accepted. I know, God, my body is the temple of the Holy Spirit that lives in me. But I just keep fornicating. I have the nerve to judge others when I am no better. I am ready to come out of hiding from my secret place where I thought I could do any and all things and no one would know.

God: That is why many of you are weak and sick and some have even died (1 Corinthians 11:3031). But if we examine ourselves, we would not be judged by God in this way.

Me: God. I need you to make me over again.

God: For I am about to do something new. See, I have already begun! Do you not see it? (Isaiah 43:19)

God: So dont trip, chocolate chip, because I am in control.

Step 5

Admitted to God, to ourselves, and to another human being the exact nature of our wrongs.

Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. (James 5:16)
