Our daughters are being surrounded by positive sounding messages like Girl Boss and Girls Rule the World. But is that the Truth? Nothe Truth is that Jesus is the boss and He rules! Our girls lives depend on their mothers knowing Gods Truth. That sounds like a clich, but for me it was and is still paramount to saving my daughters life. Dannah unfolds a process that sets the mother-daughter team free to dispel lies and uncover the Truth God wants us to believe about His love for us, our families, friendships, and our future. Youll learn how to listen, dwell, believe, and act on Gods Truth. Therein is freedom.

From my heart to yours
W hen I first wrote Lies Women Believe in 2001, my burden was particularly for adult women who had fallen prey to the deception of the enemy. As women read the book, many shared with me that the lies they believed had been rooted in their thinking since their teen years. It became increasingly clear that we needed to address these issues in younger women, before those lies could take root and produce destructive results in their lives. So in 2008, I invited Dannah Gresh to join me in penning Lies Young Women Believe.
It didnt occur to me back then that one day we would need another version of the book to help even younger girls recognize and overcome lies. At that point, these girls werent yet on the front lines of the battle, as teens were. They werent manifesting the telltale consequences of believing lies that their moms and grandmoms were experiencing.
But all that was changing while Dannah and I were writing the book for teenagers. The word tweenfirst coined in the 1940sfinally gained popular usage to describe the new consumer demographic of eight-to-twelve-year olds. They were being targeted in an effort to widen the market on products once sold to adults and teens. Suddenly things like makeup and brand name fashion were necessary for girls. The results were measurable and almost immediate: depression, body image issues, and eating disorders skyrocketed among these girls, many of whom had not yet reached puberty. And the problem has only worsened in the last decade or so.
