Is your tween prepared for whats ahead?

It used to be that middle school was the time to talk to kids about topics like modesty and body image. Unfortunately, the at-risk demographic for distorted views on the body is now girls ages 810. Fortunately, Dannah Gresh has provided a resource for this need.

Secret Keeper Girl is geared to helping tween girls understand their dignity in Christ. It features a creative self-help text format that includes sidebars, quizzes, games, exploded quotes, and graphics to help them absorb the message.

Heres what author Dannah Gresh has to say about the motivation behind the book: My past fifteen years of studying at-risk teen and tween behavior has over and over again led me to good news: girls who are exposed to an age-appropriate, Bible-based understanding of beauty and fashion between the ages of 8-12 tend to be less likely to engage in early sexual activity or have body image issues. They are also more likely to have healthy friendships, excel academically, and become positive social contributors in their communities, all while expressing their beauty and value appropriately.

Its not rocket science. It is social science paired with a whole lot of prayer and Bible study. We can change what tween girls see when they look in the mirror by changing whats inside their hearts.

This is the heart behind Secret Keeper Girl:a desire to teach tween girls how valuable they are and how to honor their God-given dignity. Ultimately, its about grounding girls in their identity in Christ so the tumultuous teen years dont uproot them.

This book pairs with Secret Keeper Girl Mom-Daughter Devos, allowing moms a helpful resource for walking through this formative time with their tween girl.

The Moody Publishers Team

Thanks

F irst of all, thanks to all the Secret Keeper Girl moms who are concerned about how this world is making their girls grow up too fast and who want to join me on a mission to keep the little in their girl. This all started with six moms in a classroom at my childhood church. And now were hundreds of thousands of moms strong across the United States, Canada, and the Dominican Republic, with a smattering of moms from other nations jumping on board.

Next, Id like to thank two really instrumental dads, my husband, Bob Gresh, and my first publisher, Greg Thornton of Moody Publishers, who initially saw the need for a book on modesty. I am pretty sure it was love for their daughters that made this topic important to them. I wrote Secret Keeper for teenagers in 2002, which continues to be a bestseller. Were finally getting around to writing Secret Keeper Girl for tween girls, and these two giants among men are still leading with good ideas and encouragement.

Some practical gratitude goes to Jose Pablo and Charo Michelen de Pablo and their daughter, Sharin Pablo de Roca, for giving me their cozy home nestled in the palm trees, where I wrote this book. To be honest, I was stuck until I heard birds singing from those trees, and there the Spirit of God hushed my spirit enough to begin to hear how this book should be formed. I cant thank you enough.
