For Louise Hay, without whom this work would not be possible.
I am eternally grateful. Thank you for being a light to us all.
Guardians of the four corners,
Mother in the Earth, Father in the Sky,
Angels, archangels, ancestors of time and ancestors of place,
Thank you for your blessings and your direction.
Thank you for guiding the warriors back to their light.
May this work be a catalyst for great healing and change.
May all of those ready to light up be guided to heal their darkness.
Aho!
CONTENTS
For thousands of years a halo of light has been used to show holy figures in the religions and spiritual traditions of the world. In the Bible, angels are described as beings of burning light. In the traditional paintings of Japanese Shintoism, saints are depicted emerging from caves with light bursting behind them. Aboriginal cave paintings show ancestor spirits heads surrounded by a wheel of light. Light has actually been seen around saints and spiritual teachers, and many people who have had spiritual experiences have also reported seeing light, whether at the end of a tunnel in a near-death experience or surrounding an angel who has visited them in a vision or dream.
Light gives the impression of godliness, peace and love. It is viewed as a sign of power, strength and spiritual achievement. And it is now commonly accepted in modern spirituality that light is also within us every one of us.
Go to any yoga class and youll hear the Sanskrit salutation Namaste being shared by student and teacher alike. It means the light in me bows to the light in you. And in the psychic field, the phrase love and light has become a common way to sign off at the end of a message, article or gathering.
We are becoming more aware that light is all around us, light is within us, light is who we are.
So why is our world often so dark? Why should this be, when I believe I know that the universe is love?
This love stuff is the real story, but many down here on this planet have forgotten. And because theyve forgotten, theyve begun to live their earthly journeys in a mysteriously challenging way that has created a lot of suffering for other people, for animals and for the Earth.
I believe the universe is trying to rectify this trying to heal the Earth. So now more than ever it needs light. It is calling out for it. I believe were all hearing that call, for were all expressions of the universe who are having an earthly experience right now.
The call could come as a feeling, or an intense emotion, or a prompt to do something. It could be a desire to become a more positive person, to change our body or our habits, to heal an addiction. It could be a desire to help others.
For years, souls who have heard this call have been named lightworkers, a term representative of the incredible light they have within them and the work they feel theyre here to do.
Its now time for us all to answer the call to shine, to dispel the darkness and let love lead. The fact that you have this book in your hands right this moment means youre already shining and youre ready to shine some more. Right now, this second, I want to honour you. I humbly bow to you. The light in me bows to the light in you.
So, how do we do it? How do we respond to the call?
All healing begins within. Youve probably heard that before, right? And its true. So, in order to heal the outer world, we begin on the inside with ourselves. All that we do for ourselves is actually for the world. So we respond to the call for light by facing our own fear. We respond by lighting up our own shadow. When we face our own darkness, we remove darkness from the world. Its as simple as that although its not always that simple.
What you are holding in your hands is a guide to becoming a light in the world. A pathway that I like to call warriorship.
I am so grateful to be sharing my life and work with the world. Its taken a whole team of us to enable this book to become what it is today.
Huge thanks to Michelle Pilley, my commissioning editor and spiritual guide. Without your incredible insights and direction, this book wouldnt be half as good!
Thank you to the edit angel, Lizzie Henry, for taking my words and making them magical. You are so gifted.
Thanks to Drew Barnes for the fantastic cover photo and for patiently guiding me to reveal myself and nothing else.
Thank you to Leanne Siu Anastasi for working hard on the book design and Julie Oughton for direction on everything editorial. Its been a joy.
I also want to thank everyone else at Hay House UK who has supported my growth and also the Wrage family in Germany, who have helped me create a voice in Europe.
To my mum, Diane, who has been a never-ending support on this journey and for putting up with my roars, mood swings and everything else that comes with raising a warrior spirit I love you.
The essence of warriorship, or the essence of human
bravery, is refusing to give up on anyone or anything.

The word warrior had never really been part of my vocabulary until I took up yoga. In yoga, warrior poses are frequent in fact I dont think Ive ever been to a dynamic yoga class that didnt have one. So for the last eight years Ive been doing these poses quite a lot, yet until recently Id never considered myself a warrior. When I thought about warriors, I thought about armour and battles. Not very spiritual. Or so I thought.
