Reader Reviews

This book is a must have for every teenage girl/woman. Its factual and insightful and I love how in-depth the author researched the subject.

Personally I would like to thank the author for creating such a wonderful guide to all things feminine.

I read the book yesterday and finished it last night feeling completely in love with myself and my body.

It also got me thinking about my mother; how we never were that close and for the first time I realise that it was my teenage angst that cause the rift. I spoke to her today and apologised. It shocked me how much of the book I could relate to - it's about me and every other girl/woman in the world who has doubts, insecurities and feels disconnected.

The author is a wonderful writer and his book demonstrates a clear knowledge and understanding. I give him the upmost respect.

p.s I don't have a child but I'm saving this copy for if I ever have a daughter. It's a treasured memento x Emma

after starting the reading of the pages I wasn't able to stop, I even needed to take some breaks not to overload myself. Very nicely written accessible and smart, the language is understandable and draws you in. Am already planning to buy several copies as presents for my friends.don't prejudge it because it has an age limit stated - believe me you will be surprised! Anastasia.

This book is really amazing. You wouldn't believe it. It helps with so much and point out things that you'd never have actually thought of. Definatly worth the read for anyone between the ages of 15-25. Loved it. Kate

I was really surprised how much I enjoyed reading it. Everything was explained simply and made this book really easy to get through. I liked how there was a mix of the females and then the prespective from the author, Roy Sheppard, it was all well balanced. I will definitely come back to it when in doubt. It has made me more aware. Sabrina

a great book for young women. Don't let the stated age range fool you. There's plenty in here that every woman would do well to remind herself of.

I recommend this book to any young woman who wants to avoid some of life's pitfalls. Sarah

Being a teenager who's convinced she knows everything (don't we all), I was pleasantly surprised when I read this. really useful especially the things on money and jobs- two things that I'm sure most 16 year olds know little about, I certainly didn't! overall it was an informative read and a book I will be passing around to my friends. Alice

I started reading the book straight away and it is very captivating. All of the chapters are well delimited and it's all one parent could teach his/her child. I like the writing style of Roy Sheppard. I will surely have a look at the other books authored by him as well. Daniela

I have read this book as a mother and will definitely pass it on to my daughter. Suan

I can honestly say that from reading this book my outlook on life will change for the better. I learned so many valuable life lessons. I will certainly be recommending this book to many of my friends, and will also save it for if I ever have a daughter of my own.

As a final note, don't let the age recommendation of 15-25 put you off. I myself am 27 at the time of writing this and I still found it an incredibly insightful read. Kirsty

I'd never normally read self help books but this was actually very interesting and had some useful information about being happy with yourself and other people and how to improve your life. I'd recommend this book to every 15 to 25 year old woman. Stacey

A book for any mother or daughter, (or just a feminist) Loved the emotional aspects the book goes into its like a guide into life and how to control your own life. It's nice to see someone of the older generation writing for and to younger generations. A Must read for Girls becoming women. Jayde

Excellent for young girls very sound advice could actually help women of all ages very interesting reading. As you start to read the book you can remember things that happened to yourself at that age and the helpful advice in this book would have been more than welcome on this journey of life. Susan

Firstly, wow! This book was a real eye-opener and helped me realise one or two mistakes I made in my younger years. Sure, I'm only 23 now but it really pointed out a few home truths. I really think that the section on self-esteem and feeling better about yourself helped me as I've always had an issue with these problems, being a somewhat larger girl always had it's impact.

I really appreciate the chance to read and keep this book close to hand to refer to in the future! Nicole

With 2 teenage daughters I found this book very interesting and passed it straight on to them. It was very easy to read, my girls enjoyed just being able to dip in and out of it and, especially for my non-reader, it didn't feel to them as though they were reading a book. There was lots of good advice in it, put across in an easy to understand format! Jo

Thorough, caring, non-patronising. The love for a daughter shines through and there is real advice in here. Katy

Introduction

Mountain biking through a forest recently with my partner, we climbed higher and higher and eventually came around a corner to face a scene of utter devastation. Hundreds of massive trees had been blown over in a storm. They were strewn everywhere. What a mess. But thousands more trees were still standing.

Those lying on the ground all shared one specific quality. You could now see that every fallen tree had shallow roots. Their roots just werent deep or strong enough to provide the fallen trees with what they needed in order to survive the storm.

The fallen trees in the forest looked strong. May be they even thought they were strong. But they werent.

Watch trees in a violent storm. Even though they are so tall and strong, they have the sense to be flexible in those difficult times. They know when to be flexible. If, in those storms they remained rigid and inflexible, they would break.
