John Morgans impersonation of President George W. Bush is so spot-on that he even fooled the CIA, who started taking orders from John. Wonderfully funny yet respectful of the forty-third president, John Morgan has entertained millions, but there is a message in his madness, and he captures it in his book War on Fear. From the time were tots, we face fearsfears of storms, the dark, and the boogeyman. While we may get over the fear of imaginary monsters, other fears linger. With authenticity and candor, John shares his own journey from fear to courage to action. With his own flaming sword, John lights our way out of the dark.

I absolutely love this book! It contains funny, honest, and transparent encouragement. It is full of excellent personal examples and well-placed quotes, and I found myself wanting to quote it and share those quotes with others. I was genuinely inspired, laughed out loud, and even cried as I heard John testify to Gods trustworthiness and glorious plan for our lives.

This book is a sparkling gem. If each of us could trade our fears for courage and peace of heart, it would be worth a million bucks. In War on Fear, John Morgan paves the way to make that very trade. Take hold of this gift and dont let go.

T he first time I met John Morgan I was backstage on our Duck Commander Cruise a couple of years back, and we were about to entertain our first audience. Half of the ship was excited about what we were going to offer them. When John walked in backstage with that dark suit, a white shirt with a red power tie, and that crooked grin, he was George W. Bush! It was so surreal, and you couldnt help but think that you were with the POTUS. We were going to play a joke on Uncle Si and let him think the real President Bush was a surprise guest on our cruise but decided that poor man has suffered enough just being Uncle Si.
John was hilarious onstage in our bit and helped us put on a fabulous and funny show. In between shows, when we were eating backstage with him and his wife, Kathy, is where I really began to see John as who he is and not just as Ws impersonator. We all shared a lot of our testimonies with each other, and a bond was formed. When people are not stingy with the victories of God, they make a lot of deep, meaningful relationships and friendships. Thats the way my wife, Lisa, and I felt about John and Kathy, and we barely knew them. After the second show John offered to lead some worship at my devotional the next morning, and being that he offered looking like the former president, I said, Yeah, that would workGeorge Bush singing gospel songs! I thought he was joking, and he said, Al, I am on a praise band and lead worship sometimes at my church back in Florida. I had no idea!
When he came the next morning in shorts and sandals and without his work clothes, he just looked like one of the cruise passengers. My devotional was as packed as the shows the night before, and this was 7:30 in the morning on a cruise ship! John played his guitar, led us in a few songs, and sang one he had written, and I cant tell you how grand and inspiring it was for me that morning to teach Gods Word with the Spirit already moving so powerfully. I realized right then that John was a special vessel for our Lord to accomplish much for the kingdom. He is a great entertainer but an even better person and leader for Christ.
I love this book about the war on fear. John takes so many of the common things we fear and gives us great help in not only overcoming these enemies but actually taking them and using them to gain strength and help others. Ive certainly known my share of fears through the years and still bend to many instead of declaring war on them.
When I was twenty-two years old I was called to ministry and recruited by some godly men that I very much respected, but I let fear of the unknown keep me from enrolling in seminary. I was married with two baby girls, and I feared being able to support them. I also thought seminary students were weird, and I feared looking like an uncool nerdand I couldnt have that! On and on I listened to the whispers of fear and didnt listen to Gods call. After a miserable year of not finding success in what I thought I should be doing I revisited my decision. At twenty-three I prayed for God to help me overcome my fears, and I waded into ministry. Including my training, I spent twenty-four amazing years in full-time work, all at my home church in West Monroe, Louisiana. God so richly blessed my life because I let Him guide me through the many fears that came with working with and later pastoring a large church that helped raise me. God allowed me to be a prophet with honor in his hometown.
Ironically, when I was faced with a decision to leave my job as a pastor to join our familys show, Duck Dynasty, and return to Duck Commander, can you guess what paralyzed me? You got it. Fear!
