For myself, growing up as an identical twin was a daily and lifelong training in telepathy. There are lots of special connections that happen for siblings no matter where they were born or where they lived. But the experience of being an identical twin carries with it an impact that, I think, only twins can truly understand.

Many extraordinary events happened with my sister and me that could go beyond the description of otherworldly: feeling a touch and other physical sensations when nobody was in the room; hearing words and noises when there wasnt a sound; knowing events, thoughts, and feelings when they were happening many miles away. It all came down to a sharing of the minds that occurred spontaneously andbecause we really didnt know any betteralways seemed completely normal.

My childhood was a gift that helped kick the doors open on other telepathic experiences at a very early ageand for the rest of my life. I started reading Tarot at 14, and that set me on a course to greater intuitive experiences, including becoming a professional reader. But when spirit started coming to my psychic consultations, I realized that these were not just psychic sensations but messages from spirit people.

Many of the spirit folk who first appeared to me were my clients fathers and grandmothers and other family members in spirit. So I thought, as most people do, that ancestors belonged only to family. I soon found out that I was wrong. The word ancestor simply means those who have gone before. And there are many, many different kinds of people who have gone before.

Writers who had already gone to spirit, came to the readings of people who had writing projects. So did architects, musicians, journalists, and all manner of spirit people interested in what my clients were doing. They were not biologically related to my clients, but they were energetically connected to them, having had done those very activities before in their own lives. There were also those who had gone before on their own evolutionary journeys, who came to share their spiritual insight and guidance.

My life has been a wonderful discovery of spirit that I have loved sharing with my clients and students. I have been a professional medium for more than 40 years, and I have taught spirit communication, reincarnation, and all manner of spiritual studies all around the world. Whether I was teaching classes in lovely, little Spiritualist churches in Toronto or Annapolis, or lecturing at Georgetown University or St. James Church on Piccadilly in London, people around the globe have always had a few important things in common: Most people really would like to be able to talk with their spirit ancestors for themselves. Also, they dont realize how many different kinds of ancestors there are. Oh, and theres one more thing. By the time Tennyson wrote these words in the 1800s, more and more people were looking to connect with spirit. But for many cultures through the ages, it was commonly believed that the door to the ancestral realms only opened on special holidays once or twice a year. Those days may have been a bit scary for some, yet they were celebrations for others. And they were celebrations for spirit, too!
