Created in Gods Image

Read the beginning of Eves story in Genesis 1:1-31.

Eve: the first woman. Made in the image of God. What exactly does that mean? It means that Eve was created as a reflection of Gods glory. She had the ability to love, to be faithful, to show kindness, and to do many of the other things God does. It doesnt mean she physically resembled God, although God did design her and create her in a way that he said was very good (Genesis 1:31).

Many times people overlook how special Eve was as one of Gods first creations, but God had a special plan for her. She was the first woman and the first mother. When God created Adam and Eve, he told them to have children and to fill the earth with people all created in his image. What an important job!

God gave Eve all she needed to fulfill his plan for her. And God has given you all you need to fulfill the wonderful plan he has for you. You may not know yet what youll do in your adult life, but be assured, God has something special for youthen and now. You have been individually designed and specially made by God. There is no one on earth who has your same combination of looks, personality, talents, and abilities. Ephesians 2:10 says, We are Gods handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do ( NIV ). God already knows his plan for you and created you to be just who you need to be in order to live out that plan. So determine now that you will go ahead and bravely be what God created you to bea talented, still growing, still maturing young woman made to reflect Gods glory.

Pray: Thank God for creating you and making your talents part of his plan for you.

God created human beings in his own image. In the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.

GENESIS 1:27

Making the Right Choice

Read about Eves choice in Genesis 3:1-24.

God said, You can have it all but this one thing.

Satan, speaking through the serpent, said, God just doesnt want you to have something good.

Eve made the wrong choice to eat from the tree that God said not to eat from, and because of that one choice, sin entered the world. God could have put up an electric fence or a Do Not Touch sign, but he wanted Adam and Eve to choose obedience.

What could Eve have done differently when the serpent came along? She might have asked God about what the serpent said. What would have happened if Eve had said to the serpent, Let me ask God about this when I talk with him in a little while? Would the serpent have left and returned later to try again? Would it just have made up more lies that sounded true? Well never know what might have happened. Eve made her choice, and the result is that we are all born with the tendency to disobey God.

You may not be visited by a serpent, but you will still be tempted to sin and face the decision every day whether to do what God says is right. But with every temptation, God will give you a way out. Ask God to give you the courage to obey his rules, and trust him to give you the rich and satisfying life he promises.

Pray: Ask the Holy Spirit to guide you and help you make right choices.

The instructions of the L ORD are perfect, reviving the soul. The decrees of the L ORD are trustworthy, making wise the simple.
