Powerful Prayer

PREFACE

Dear reader, this book is intended to help young believers get a better understanding of their most precious asset as Christians: their prayer life. We must endeavour to establish a powerful prayer life that focuses on showing the power of God on the earth.

In a believers life, prayer is necessary. Without it, it is impossible to maintain a relationship with God. The growth power of the believers life is based on prayer. At the end of the day, our Christian lives can be likened to a vehicle: Your faith is the engine and prayer is the transmission that causes the vehicle to attain its highest level by shifting into gear at the right time. If you have a great looking engine (faith) but no transmission (prayer), the vehicle will never maximise its potential.

OBJECTIVES OF THIS BOOK:

  1. Revolutionise the way you think of prayer
  2. Revolutionise the power in your prayer
  3. Revolutionise the way you position yourself for prayer
  4. Teach you how to get results from prayer

GET ANSWERS TO YOUR QUESTIONS

A. Does prayer really work?

B. Who can pray a powerful prayer?

C. Can a prayer be silent?

D. Are there levels of prayer?

Does God hear everybodys prayers?

This is a question everybody fears. So I will answer it.

Unfortunately, to be answered, prayers require more than a few recited phrases. One should first realise that prayer requires a good attitude, levels, a clean heart, action and expectance.

You must be in good standing with God. You refer to God as a Father; are you His son? Are you born of Him?

Faith is required. Without faith, it is impossible to please God.

Forgiveness. If you are unforgiving towards others, you are wasting your time in prayer.

Obedience to Gods Word is key.

For instance, your prayer asks God to open unto you the windows of heaven. The Bible already listed the requirement for that to happen in Malachi 3. Pay your tithe, and you will have the floodgates of heaven open automatically. No amount of prayer will open the gates if you dont pay your tithe.

If you need a financial blessing in abundance, pray for God to give you more power to give finances to his work in the name of Jesus.

CHAPTER 1

There is no specific Biblical instruction, but the generally accepted practice when praying against evil spirits is to pray aloud. Neither demons nor Satan himself can read our minds like God can. Sometimes it seems as if they can, but thats only because of their experience in observing human behaviour. Someone once asked if they could read things we write down. We dont know for sure; we assume they can. But pray aloud so theres no mistake about what youre saying and whom youre saying it to. Proverbs 12v6 states, The words of the upright shall deliver him. It is important we open our mouth when we pray.

The Word of God mentions several different times that prayer has to be vocal.

In Daniel 9v18, Daniel pleads to God to open his ear to hear the words of his mouth.

The prayer must come from your heart and out of your mouth.

Out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh (St. Matthew 12v34).

Your mouth can make you happy or sad. Thats why when you pray, you need to make sure that you are speaking clearly and not mumble jumble, for by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned (St. Matthew 12v37).

I am sure that from now on, you will open your mouth and pray and be clear with your words.

CHAPTER 2

Put on the full armour of God so that you can take your stand against the devils schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil (Ephesians 6v1012).

Believers must not allow the enemy to close our mouths and stifle our prayers; rather, we should be ready and sober minded, allowing our spirit man to discern the plans of the enemy. Our prayers must always be in our mouths like rockets on a launching pad. The psalmist said, Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in thy sight O Lord my strength and my redeemer (Psalm 19v14). With this in mind, the prayer has to be examined for acceptance; not just any old words will do for every situation. Lets look at this example: Someone needs healing of the body. The prayer should not be talking about the Crossing of the Red Sea but about the God that healeth all our diseases, the Jesus on the cross who gave me healing because of the stripes he took for me, the Jehovah-Rapha, the healer.

One of the weapons that a believer is armed with is prayer. We can pray in the spirit, pray with an unknown tongue and pray with fasting. Paul put it like this in 2 Corinthians10v4: The weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty through God for the pulling down of strongholds.

Every stronghold detected in your life trying to work against our destiny and purpose needs to be pulled down instantly with spiritual warfare prayer.

Open your mouth; lets pray .

Every demonic agent assigned to block my progression or my family, I come against you in the name of Jesus. I know that there is a blood covering me and a Holy Spirit in me. I refuse to allow you any access to my abundant life. In Jesus name, I am blessed, and my children and my friends are blessed. Now you discouraging, disappointing and depressing spirit, I resist you with the presence of the Holy Spirit and the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. I command you now to go to the pit and burn.

CHAPTER 3

Prayer is not just communication with God; it must be specific communication with God. Prayer is needed for spiritual protection from the enemys spiritual attacks. Prayer requires passion, purpose and persistence. Usually, we address prayers for spiritual warfare to God and not to the evil spirits. We ask God for protection and deliverance. We thank Him for our lives in Jesus and for the power of His Truth. This is important, because too often, people will just try to rebuke the evil spirits without prayer to God. Remember Mark 9v29 where Jesus tells the disciples that some spirits cannot just be cast out; prayer and fasting is required. We believe its just prudent to pray to God for help; Hell decide if we need it. And Hell lead us to fast if necessary. Then we renounce the evil spirits and their effect on our lives, in the authority of and in the power of Jesusauthority and power He gave us and commissioned us to use (John 14v12).

Open your mouth and pray.

Every demonic power contesting against my destiny and my purpose, I come against you in the name of Jesus. I plead the Blood of Jesus on my life and ask the Holy Spirit to burn every hindrance out of my way that my destiny may be pursued with purpose.

CHAPTER 4

There are people who seem especially gifted in the discernment of demons and spiritual warfare. Its almost as if they are anointed by God for direct battle with the enemy. For the rest of us, taking on evil spirits directly can be risky. Were fighting in a realm we dont know much about: the spiritual realm.

God will lead you to confront evil spirits if thats what He deems best. You should check with God for guidance, though, before you do it on your own. Although it became very popular in the 90s to cast out demons, bind one, and name the other one, the practice is not scripturally sound. The apostles used direct confrontation in those rare cases of complete demonic possession. Otherwise, they prayed to God for His help and deliverance. The archangel Michael, who does have the authority to speak directly to demons, deferred to God when addressing Satan: But even Michael, one of the mightiest of the angels, did not dare accuse the devil of blasphemy, but simply said, The LORD rebuke you! (Jude 1v9).
