"I saw the angel in the marble, and I just chiseled until I set him free."
Michelangelo
This inspiring sculpture, created by Gary Price of Springville, Utah, is symbolic of working beneath the surface. Those who embark upon this great work become "sculptors" of their own souls, working from within to discover and shape their identities and destinies. The vision, power, and will to become who we really are is within each of us. We chip away all that is not us, using chisels and mallets to bring the truth of ourselves to light. The work is difficult and at times even painful, but the sculptor within us, what I call the soul's hidden agenda, will not rest until the work is finished. The soul will ultimately be whole, with or without our conscious participation.
Many thanks to Gary Price for allowing rile to include this exceptional piece of art in this book.

Acknowledgments
I feel deeply indebted to those who have in some way played a significant role in this work.
My wife, Annette, has been a tremendous inspiration and force for good in helping me work beneath the surface in my own life. She has encouraged me, endured me, and been my greatest support and most helpful critic.
My childrenNicole, T. J., Tyson, and Tessahave also played a greater part than they know. They have put me to the test, revealed me to myself, and helped me learn humility and patience. Most of all, they have taught me how to love and have renewed me with their love.
My mother and my father, who is deceased, gave me not only the gifts of life and of love, but their own special gifts. From my mother I received a free spirit, from my father a disposition for risk-taking, together with a deep sense of responsibility and of the need-to balance the demands of internal and external authority in following my own path.
To my brothers, Dean and Jim: You have been like a mirror to my soul and a touchstone in my quest for self-understanding. I love you both more than I can say.
