B eyond his accomplishments as international spiritual leader, healer, and author, Michael Mirdad is a man with a heart of gold. During our first encounter, the quality that I felt emanating from him was a sense of balance. Michael is confident with a soft humility, serious with a childs playfulness, and complex with a zen-like simplicity. He has the rare ability to take himself and, consequently, his students beyond the titles, categories, and limitations that society or we ourselves tend to erect and into the grace of truth. He is courageously and thoroughly expansive, challenging himself and others to live in the full aliveness of the present moment.

In An Introduction to Tantra and Sacred Sexuality, Michael gently applies such courage to our most vulnerable and intimate of resources: our sexuality. Based on over twenty years as a healer and leader, his approach is simple, yet not easy. It is about walking the balance of saturated ecstasy, while at the same time being nonattached. It is about loving all parts of ourselves and yet knowing that we are so much more than the sum of those parts. Michaels teachings embrace the joy inherent in all aspects of ourselves, our lives, and our worlds. Then they take us even deeper.

An Introduction to Tantra and Sacred Sexuality eases us through the historical myriads of sexual behaviors, philosophies, and methodologies that span many thousands of years, combining wisdom from both the traditional and the esoteric. By distilling the essence of each, Michael leads us to an essential truth within ourselves. This truth, which is our birthright, affirms our sexual innocence, forever-expanding aliveness, and giddy bliss. Michael shows us how to live the sacredness of sexuality within our relationships, during our moments alone, and throughout our everyday lives. His book applies equally to those with healthy sexual patterns who seek more profound levels of ecstasy and to those still healing from sexual trauma. From the multi-orgasmic to the non-orgasmic, Michael considers each man and woman. He honors where we are now and provides the safety for who we know we can become.

Prepare for the profound and ecstatic treats that await your senses in the following pages. An Introduction to Tantra and Sacred Sexuality is not simply a manual for sexuality; it is a guide for living in sexual balance and spiritual grace.

Author, Tantric Awakening

I t would be difficult to understand and appreciate who you are, your destiny or your True Nature if you omitted any part of yourself, even the most human partyour sexual self. This book takes you on a journey through a vital part of your sacred selfyour sexuality. It offers insights on how to awaken and integrate your whole being, resulting in a union of your body and soul with the Spirit of the Divine.

An Introduction to Tantra and Sacred Sexuality offers insights into how to live ecstatically by awakening your sensual self and sharing this presence with others, momentby-moment. This book does not promote one particular style of sexuality over another. Instead, it is a synthesis of many of the ancient arts combined with modern principles of sex and sexual healing. Therefore, you will discover that this book is exciting and enticing, as well as powerful and healing.

You do not have to be in a relationship to enjoy, apply, and explore sacred sexuality or this book. In this book, the term partner does not exclusively refer to someone with whom you have a committed relationship. Rather, it refers to the person with whom you are sharing the particular experience.

The terminology in this material is kept simple to avoid overwhelming the reader with ancient terminology and excessive use of Sanskrit words. One exception to this rule is that throughout most of the book, Sanskrit words are used for the penis (lingam, meaning Wand of Light) and vagina (yoni, meaning Sacred Space).

Finally, some spiritual teachings insist that you must set aside your body to find your soul. This book, on the other hand, shares the philosophy of A Course in Miracles, which suggests that before you can experience universal love, you must first remove the obstacles and judgments keeping it veiled. In other words, before you can feel your universal body, you must first love every particle of your physical body. Then, after lovingly reclaiming your total body and receiving the gift of love from the universe, you will discover that a whole new life awaits you.
