Chapter 1

Tantra, translated from Sanskrit to mean "tools for expansion", originated in India over 1,500 years ago and is essentially a set of practices and instructions designed to connect us with our inner energy and emotions, thereby allowing us to become more aware of the energy around us. Tantra encourages us to explore sexual energy to meet these ends.

The goal of Tantric sex is not necessarily to achieve orgasm, but rather to enrich the entire sexual encounter by allowing us to experience more variety and depth in our sexuality.

Frequently, Western approaches to improving our sex lives encourage us to evaluate and alter external components of ourselves and our lives.
