Massage for Beginners.
Book 1: Back Massage.
By Jennifer Kimberly.
Chapter 1: Back Pain.
One of the most debilitating things to deal with is lingering pain. Back pain is an extremely common problem and affects a large number of people on an ongoing basis. It can be caused, by stress, poor posture, unusual sleeping position, straining and more. A highly effective way to relieve back pain and stress is through relaxing massage.
Massage relieves pain because it helps muscles to release tension. Day to day life is busy and you often spend so much time straining yourself to get things done, that you forget to take care of yourself. Massage is perfect for rejuvenation of the body and mind.
Many people who have been long term sufferers of back pain respond particularly well to massage and gain enormous relief from what had previously been lingering pain.
We are going to look at the best areas to target to finally take care of back pain.

Chapter 2: Finding Partners For Massage.
One of the biggest problems people have for finding a massage partner is where to find one and how to approach them. If you have a spouse, then there is an easy choice. However, if your spouse just isnt in to it or youre just seeking someone new there are a few good places to start.
Social groups are probably the best place to begin as you probably already have naturally gravitated to other people that have similar interests to you. If you take regular workout classes, Zumba, aerobics, yoga, spin, circuit etc. then the easiest way is to make friends with one or more of your workout friends. Bring up that youve had a sore back and that they must all be sore as well. Invite them around for massage party with a movie and a glass of wine.
This also can work with co-workers depending on the relationship that you already have with them. Be a bit more cautious with them as you will be seeing them every day.
Massages are a great way to bond with your partner whether a spouse, potential spouse or a friend. Giving a massage is almost as relaxing as receiving one. If you are both feeling talkative, then using your hands still leaves you fee to talk. A great advantage is that there also arent any awkward silences as massaging fills any gaps in conversation points. If you need to, change the technique that you are using to start massaging a different body area, this will provide an automatic cover for any conversation lull.
Massages can be whatever you make them, a romantic encounter or bonding with a friend. If you are seeking romantic diversion than an invitation for massage is always tempting. Bringing the topic up with a friend can be just a delicate. The easiest way is to wait for the person to complain about something, or start telling you about something that has been troubling them. Be a great listener. Then you say, Hey, I have an idea, why dont come around tonight and well have a big D&M session. Well trade massages, Im an excellent listener! By the way D&M is a Deep & Meaningful conversation. It will be like getting your nails done with the girls at the salon!
Chapter 3: Golden rules.
Once you make skin contact you must always be touching.
Always be massaging as you move your hands between techniques. Also drag your hands across your subjects body so as to never break skin contact if you have to change position. This also allows them to relax as they can feel where you are moving to next. If you break contact with the skin the massage can feel broken, like it is stopping and starting. Maintaining continuous skin contact allows the massage to flow easily and creates a better experience.
Massaging Freehand vs. Massage with oil.
Both massaging with or without massage oil is extremely enjoyable, however they require very different ways to go about massaging. When massaging with oil, allow your fingers to slide over the skin as you massage. The oil is a lubricant and the slides will be pleasant. If you are massaging freehand, dont slide your fingers across the skin as it is uncomfortable due to friction. Press on to the skin and keep your finger on the same part of the skin. Press through the skin to massage onto the muscles.
Knots in muscles & focus areas.
Spend more time where needed, people develop knots. This is tense areas of muscle that has been strained and feels noticeably raised or hard when massaging. Focusing on these areas can provide greater relief for your subject. Always check with your subject if they have any areas that they want avoided or focused on.
Noises of pleasure vs noises of pain or physical tensing.
If you hear obvious noises of pleasure from the massage, then continue as you are and possibly intensify pressure as appropriate. If you hear noises of pain from your subject or they are tensing their muscles, lighten the pressure that you are applying. If you need to, ask them if they would like the massage harder or lighter.
Grooming and Respite.
Be aware of finger nails and keep them smoothly groomed. If you have long nails, you may have to adjust the angle that you massage at so as not to hurt the person youre massaging. If you are massaging with one hand at a time, swap which hand is doing the main work to give the other hand a chance to rest. This should stop your hands getting tired or cramping. If you are massaging with two hands, dont be afraid to drop back to one. If your hands a tired or cramping, lighten the pressure you are using to relax your hands.
Always finish with a soft technique.
To finish a massage I recommend a technique that I call Butterfly Fingers. To do this, gently drag the very tips of your fingertips along the skin with the lightest touch. Trace the body in random sweeping patterns while alternating speed. After massage the skin is highly sensitive and this technique stimulates highly pleasant sensations from your touch.
Persisting or unusual pain.
Health and safety is always our first concern and there is no reason to take risks. If there is any persisting or unusual pain, always remember to seek professional medical advice.
