About the Author
Bernice Krumhansl was a physical therapist with approximately five decades of professional experience. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Notre Dame College of Ohio, in Cleveland, and a certificate in physical therapy from the Cleveland Clinic Foundation. Her continuing education included short courses in arthritis, cystic fibrosis, orthopedics, neurology, proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation, lower extremity prostheses, manipulation, cardiac care, burns, personnel management, acutherapy, Yoga, computers in physical therapy, education, muscle energy, and cranio-sacral therapy.
Ms. Krumhansl was also in private practice in Cleveland, Ohio, where she served as assistant professor of physical therapy at the Ohio College of Podiatric Medicine. She obtained earlier clinical experience as a staff physical therapist in the cerebral palsy unit of the Association for the Crippled and Disabled, as the chief physical therapist at St. Alexis Hospital in Cleveland. For thirty-four years, she was Director of Physical Therapy at St. Luke's Hospital in Cleveland, where her responsibilities included both clinical and administrative duties, as well as the supervision of the students from several baccalaureate and associate degree programs. In 1966, she received a Special Rehabilitation Research Fellowship from the Vocational Rehabilitation Administration of the Department of Health, Education and Welfare to serve as a consultant at
