ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Martin Zatko has been visiting Beijing regularly sincehis first trip there in 2003, and likes to think of the place as some sort ofendlessly changing home. Still on the way towards fulfilling his childhood dreamof visiting every country in the known universe, he has also worked on the RoughGuides to China, Japan, Tokyo, Korea, Seoul, Vietnam, Turkey and Europe on aBudget.
Acknowledgements
Martin Zatko would like to thank two people in particular: Jee Young Lee for being a great travel partner in Beijing andbeyond, and Eivind Hestetun Thomassen for almost everything else (the gorgeousplace to stay, the beer, the snus, the inside knowledge, the rides around town, and the more dubious sight of him doing work in his underpants every morning).Other big-ups to the ever-bubbly Caroline Tan, Irmun Demberel for a fewmemorable nights out, Nick and Simon from Koryo Tours, Ali for the bicycle, andthe incredibly long list of locals who made my time in Beijing such apleasure.
