acknowledgments
I want to acknowledge and thank you, dear reader, for opening your mind and your heart to the content in this book. It was truly a work of love.
The knowledge and information shared in this book was gleaned from my own healing journey after the tragic loss of my twelve-year-old son, Max. He inspired me to learn and grow throughout his short life, and that legacy continues past his untimely death. While I would never wish the pain and intensity of my experience on anyone, I do hope that the 5 keys to health I discovered on this journey will lessen the mental, physical, and emotional pain you may be facing in your own life.
Thank you to my beautiful and amazing daughter, Carly Cohen; my mother, Barbara Sternoff; my sister Lisa Feldman; and my emotional support team: Liz Hletko, Naomi Panzer, Sarah Gomez, Dr. Christine Schaffner, and the late Nicole Condit Duncan, for your unconditional love, insight, patience, loyalty, and support throughout this journey and this lifetime. Friendship is the best medicine and your intelligence, compassion, humor, and insight have carried me through many dark hours.
This book would not have been possible without the guidance and support of Kim Keller, Julie Bennett, and Isabelle Gioffredi at Ten Speed Press and Celeste Fine, and Jaidree Braddix at Park & Fine. Thank you also to Courtney Kenney, Odette Fleming, Jana Branson, and the entire Random House marketing team for your wonderful ideas and ongoing support, and Lisi and Rob Wolf for your beautiful photographs!
Thank you to my amazing team at Vibrant Blue Oils, including Darcie Purcell, Tressa Beheim, Rebecca Odle, Jill Hutchins, Anna Moren, Heather Larson, Kate Mackie, Christy Olsen, Jen Ward, Charissa Wilson, and Dmitriy Agadzhanov. You are the wind beneath my wings, and it is an honor and a privilege to work with you every day.
I am also immensely grateful for the brilliance and kindness of my professional confidents and cheerleaders, including Mary Agnes Antonopoulos, Peter Hoppenfeld, Evan Hirsch, Heidi Hanna, Cassie Bjork, Amy Stark, Debi Silber, Elisa Song, Julie Matthews, Terry Wahls, Deanna Minich, Michelle Norris, Keesha Ewers, Wendy Myers, Randall Zamcheck, Brett Fairall, Katie Packwood, Anne Fischer Silva, Margaret Floyd Barry, Donna Mosher, Bridgit Danner, Todd Watts, Lloyd Burrell, Josh Shideler, Miriam Mosley, Maya Shetreat, Niki Gratix, Anna Cabeca, Robyn Openshaw, and JJ Virgin.
