About the Author

Konstantinos has a bachelors degree in Journalism and Technical Writing and is a published author of articles and short fiction. This is his third book published by Llewellyn. He is also the author of V ampires: The Occult Truth and Summoning Spirits: The Art of Magical Evocation.

Konstantinos has been researching the occult and practicing Western Magick for over a decade. He is also a trained stage mentalist who uses these skills to debunk fraudulent affectations of the supernatural.

When not writing or pursuing his occult interests, Konstantinos often lectures on paranormal topics at bookstores and colleges. He enjoys archaeological research, reading, martial arts, and listening to music. He is also a Gothic rock vocalist.

Why This Book?

I can speak with the dead.

No, Im not claiming to use any supernatural powers, and no, I wasnt born with a special gift. In fact, there isnt a single thing I do that you cant learn to do just as well or even better. With a little time and effort you, too, can communicate with the other side.

But before we proceed, I have to make a couple of things clear.

First: Im certain everyone who attempts the techniques in this book will get results from at least a couple, if not several, of them. The Seven Methods in this book are powerful, tested, and ready to use.

Second (and equally important): Not once will I preach to you about the nature of the universe or ask you to accept without proof any of the concepts I present. Nor will I do readings for a fee or host seminars where you pay to witness contact with the deceased. In the coming chapters youll learn to be wary of those who claim superiority in any way over others and try to reap financial rewards from their claims.

When it comes to the unseen world, were all explorers with equal status and free access to its wonders.

What youre about to read is an account of some of the things I have encountered in my own explorations, as well as descriptions of how you can recreate my results. In no way should this book be mistaken for some kind of religious text or considered law. I ask only that you keep an open mind and try the techniques I describe. Then, when all the evidence is before you, make up your own mind about the validity of whats found in these pages.

Great, then lets get right to the topic at hand: why this book?

Whether we are scared of losing loved ones to the darkness or frightened by the thought that we ourselves will someday cease to exist, most of us needlessly fear death. Mediums both ancient and modern have tried to alleviate this fear through sances and intuited messages from the other side, but their efforts as a whole have not succeeded. The reason for their lack of mass impact? Its simple: its difficult to determine if any of these channels have been telling the truth.

Beginning with Harry Houdini in the 1920s, skeptics, stage magicians, and mentalists have debunked many supposed speakers for the dead. These exposed frauds combined parlor tricks with psychological subterfuge and passed off feats designed for entertainment as real afterlife communication, making quite a tidy sum in the process. Public trust in spiritualism has been, understandably, weakened as a result. Doubt has risen to an all-time high as were faced with the question of whether all mediumistic claims are mere lies.

Considering some of the experiences Ive had, I believe this is not an issue. The trickery perpetrated by some has nothing to do with the reality of the innate abilities we all possess. As youll soon find out, real mediums do exist, and you can perform many of the same feats they do: it is possible to communicate with those whove passed on. Do take a lesson from the crimes of the many frauds, though. Avoid trusting someone elses reading (not to mention the exorbitant amount you may have to pay for one).

Since this book takes a hands-on approach to afterlife communication, you will be able to rely on the evidence presented to your own senses. Youll learn how to cut out the con man (or woman) and learn to really speak with the dead on your own. You will prove to yourself, firsthand, that there is indeed an afterlife.

Incidentally, just in case a charlatan does lure you to a performance of pseudo-spirit communication or you catch said communicator on TV, youll be armed against trickery. In chapter 2 youll learn exactly how most fraudulent mediums pull off their sham shows.
