THIS BOOK WAS written to support anyone struggling or concerned about the long-term effects of living with raised cholesterol. Does this sound like you? Perhaps you have been trying to manage your cholesterol for years but have been confused by mixed messages. Or you may have tried to make changes but havent been able to stick to them. Or perhaps youve only just been diagnosed and dont know where to start. Rest assured, there really are simple ways to improve your cholesterol and keep your heart healthier and this book will show you how.

Balancing your diet when you have high cholesterol can be challenging but its far from impossible. Our own experiences with people diagnosed with raised cholesterol show that provided you receive practical, clear and realistic advice you can become your own expert in managing your cholesterol. Enabling you to achieve this success is what this book is all about.

We have split the book into two parts. The first part helps to demystify cholesterol and enables you to understand the role it plays in cardiovascular (heart and circulatory) disease, as well as empowering you to have a frank and open discussion with your doctor.

Few books tackle the main reasons of why cholesterol is raised, so we aim to highlight how genetics as well as lifestyle play a key role. We also clarify the role of triglycerides, another blood fat linked to cardiovascular disease.
