C ome As You Are The Suprising New Science That Will Transform Your Sex Life: This is not the original full length book. This is a brief summary of the book. The author of the book, Dr. Emily Nagoski, discusses an issue many of us are clearly aware of. And it is that we are not really satisfied with our sex life.
The book primarily focuses on the science of sex. It is that brain and sex connection that we've all heard about before. However, the book says there is new science, and new understanding, as a result of recent research. Ironically, this new research comes from the past decade of trying to come up with a Viagra like pill specifically for women.
They haven't accomplished that yet. But all the research, studies, surveys, analysis, etc. trying to come up with this billion dollar pill has lead to new understandings about women and how their sexuality works.
So clearly women are the targeted audience. But, of course, any man who is interested improving sex with his female partner will benefit from the book as well. The book says it will help radically transform your sex life into one filled with confidence and joy.
Originally released in 2015, Dr. Nagoski actually had to fight for the title Come As You Are. Maybe it was the play on words. Or maybe because of the hugely popular song by Nirvana. But she was able to use it. The book was released. It quickly received rave reviews and became a New York Times Best Seller.
D r. Emily Nagoski has too many credits to list in this brief bio. She is a renown sex educator, researcher, activist, and author. She has a Ph.D. in Health Behavior with a doctoral concentration in human sexuality from Indiana University. She also has a Masters degree from Indiana University in Counseling. A clinical internship at the Kinsey Institute Sexual Health Clinic. In addition, she has a B.A. in Psychology, with minors in Cognitive Science and Philosophy, from the University of Delaware. She runs the very popular blog called The Dirty Normal. And now she is a New York Times Best Selling Author from her book Come as You Are: The Surprising New Science that Will Transform Your Sex Life.
Overview
D r. Nagoski's goal in her book is to improve women sex lives. And to educate everyone that has an interest in the subject of female sexuality. She wants the reader to realize that you are probably normal. And that there is a wide range of normal. You should discover your own individual sexual personality.
Maybe you are one of the many who are not that satisfied with your sex life? Then you will benefit from just learning to understand your sexuality.
That is what this book promises to help. Based from scientific research that explains how your sexual pleasure can be impeded. Or enabled.
You will discover why individuals are so different when it comes to their desire for sex. And you should not become fixated about having orgasms, or the lack of having orgasms.
Why all of those women's magazines may not be helping your sex life.
You will also learn why men and women genitals are not as big of a difference as we think.
The following are the Key Summary Points we found in the book.
Key Summary Point 1
E very Individual Has Their Own Unique Sexual Anatomy They are composed of similar but unique elements. For examples pretty much all of us, at one time, have wondered why men have nipples. Obviously for a woman they serve a very specific function. And that is to provide nourishment to their offspring. Often we, especially men, focus on a woman's breast as a sexual body part. However, men also have breast. Not nearly as developed as a woman. And they serve no purpose for feeding offspring. So do why do guys have them?
Well, even though we fault guys for obsessing over them, breast and nipples are actually sexual body parts. As well as the other purposes they serve for women. And when all human beings start off in the mother's womb we all have the same basic body parts. They then begin to arrange themselves differently in the genders.
So, as a new fetus, boys, girls have identical genital tissue. In fact, most people know that for the first six weeks, or so, of a pregnancy, it is not possible to see the difference between them.
