The Almeida Theatre makes brave new work that asks big questions: of plays, of theatre and of the world around us.
Whether new work or reinvigorated classics, the Almeida brings together the most exciting artists to take risks; to provoke, inspire and surprise our audiences.
Recent highlights include Rupert Goolds Olivier Award-winning production of Ink (transferred to the West End and transfers to Broadway in 2019), Robert Ickes productions of Hamlet (transferred to the West End and was broadcast on BBC TWO) and Mary Stuart (transferred to the West End and toured the UK) and Rebecca Frecknalls production of Summer and Smoke (which transfers to the West End in November 2018).
Other notable productions have included American Psycho: a new musical thriller (transferred to Broadway); Chimerica (won three Olivier Awards and transferred to the West End); King Charles III (won the Olivier Award for Best New Play and transferred to the West End and Broadway, toured the UK and Sydney, and was adapted into a BAFTA nominated TV drama); and
