Acknowledgments

M ANY thanks to all those who have guided me throughout my qigong career, especially to my illustrious tai chi, kung fu, and qigong teachers, Bing Gong, Fong Ha, and Larry Johnson. Your faith in me and your love for the internal arts has sustained my practice. Thanks, too, to my students, whose joy in learning and many questions have taught me to be a better teacher.

A special thanks to my Chinese medicine tutors Michael Tierra and Miriam Lee, and instructors Ted Kaptchuk, Subhuti Dharmananda, and Mark Seem, and the Tri State College of Acupuncture faculty, whose combined efforts have imbued me with the ancient knowledge of acupuncture, acupressure, dietary therapy, and herbal medicine.

I would also like to acknowledge my dear teacher Christine Schenk, who has shown me how to blossom as a whole being. Many of the energetic insights shared in this book have come from the energy body therapy I learned from Christine.

There are several other qigong and Oriental medicine instructors who have had an impact on my abilities through intensive workshops. They are Stephen Birch, Luke Chan, Roger Jahnke, Angela Longo, Kiiko Matsumoto, Chulin Sun, Yun Xiang Tseng, Stuart Watts, Frank Yurasek, and Lonny Jarrett. I would also like to thank Ken Cohen for his video Qigong: Traditional Chinese Exercises for Healing Body, Mind, and Spirit, on which I based some exercises in set 2.

I have been blessed with so much assistance in bringing this book to fruition. It would not have been possible without the following people:
