Reiki is thegift of vitality and self-preservation encoded into the geneticmakeup of all Gods creatures. It is the higher selfs connectionto the universal energy that breathes life into all living things.We are all born with the omniscient wisdom to heal and preservelife. All living things are connected. Our ancestors used andrelied on their own abilities and instincts. Unfortunately, thesebasic skills have been forgotten and are rarely used today.Humanity in its relentless ambition for progress has given up itsmost precious and natural gift.

Through themedia and clever advertising campaigns most of the worldspopulation have been conditioned to rely heavily on moderntechnology at the expense of their own birth right. There is a needfor humanity to become re-balanced. Instead of giving upresponsibility for ones life and health, it is vitally importantto regain equilibrium between ancient and moderntechnology. Reiki is the catalyst.

Many peoplebelieve when you are ready to embrace the principles of Reiki youwill be guided to a teacher. I personally believe that Reiki withits infinite wisdom and unconditional love seeks out the personwhen they need it most. This is true of my own experience andintroduction to Reiki.

Like manypeople in the healing profession I was inspired to help othersthrough personal tragedy. My sister Kim Buckley died of Cancer atthe young age of thirty-three, leaving behind a devastated husband,four young children and a large family. During her brief attempt tobeat cancer she asked me to help her fight against this horribledisease. With no real knowledge of medicine or complementarytherapies I searched for hope. Doctors and nurses were unable andunwilling to offer any encouragement, refusing to step outside therealms of modern medicine. We were told to just accept that she wasgoing to die. Modern medicine gave up exposing its limitations.

Angry andfrustrated at the hospitals cold, blunt diagnosis I began tosearch bookshops for inspiration. Love, Medicine and Miracles awonderful book by Dr Bernie Siegel jumped out at me. It told of amore compassionate and holistic approach to diseases such as cancerand aids. There were stories of people who survived even afterbeing told there was no hope. It explained how by takingresponsibility for your own health and future you could fight backif you wished. Even in death you could have control anddignity.
