A leader in the field of yoga, meditation, spirituality, and holistichealth, the Himalayan Institute is a nonprofit international organization dedicated to serving humanity through educational, spiritual, and humanitarian programs. The mission of the Himalayan Instituteis to inspire, educate, and empower all those who seek to experience their full potential.
Founded in 1971 by Swami Rama of the Himalayas, the HimalayanInstitute and its varied activities and programs exemplify the spiritualheritage of mankind that unites East and West, spirituality andscience, ancient wisdom and modern technology.
Our international headquarters is located on a beautiful 400-acre campus in the rolling hills of the Pocono Mountains of northeasternPennsylvania. Our spiritually vibrant community and peaceful setting provide the perfect atmosphere for seminars and retreats, residential programs, and holistic health services. Students from allover the world join us to attend diverse programs on subjects suchas hatha yoga, meditation, stress reduction, ayurveda, and yoga andtantra philosophy.

Mission Programs

Wisdom Library and Mission Membership
The Himalayan Institute online Wisdom Library curates the essentialteachings of the living Himalayan Tradition. This offering is aunique counterpart to our in-person Mission Programs, empoweringstudents by providing online learning resources to enrich theirstudy and practice outside the classroom.
Our Wisdom Library features multimedia blog content,livestreams, podcasts, downloadable practice resources, digitalcourses, and an interactive Seekers Forum. These teachings captureour Mission Facultys decades of study, practice, and teachingexperience, featuring new content as well as the timeless teachingsof Swami Rama and Pandit Rajmani Tigunait.

Spiritual Excursions
Since 1972, the Himalayan Institute has been organizing pilgrimagesfor spiritual seekers from around the world. Our spiritual excursionsfollow the traditional pilgrimage routes where adepts of theHimalayas lived and practiced. For thousands of years, pilgrimagehas been an essential part of yoga sadhana, offering spiritual seekersthe opportunity to experience the transformative power of livingshrines of the Himalayan Tradition.
Global Humanitarian Projects
The Himalayan Institutes humanitarian mission is yoga in actionoffering spiritually grounded healing and transformation to theworld. Our humanitarian projects serve impoverished communitiesin India, Mexico, and Cameroon through rural empowermentand environmental regeneration. By putting yoga philosophy intopractice, our programs are empowering communities globally withthe knowledge and tools needed for a lasting social transformationat the grassroots level.

About the Author
PANDIT RAJMANI TIGUNAIT, PhD, is a modern-day master and living link in the unbroken Himalayan Tradition. He embodies the yogic and tantric wisdom which the Himalayan Tradition has safeguarded for thousands of years. Pandit Tigunait is the successor of Sri Swami Rama of the Himalayas and the spiritual head of the Himalayan Institute. As a young man he committed himself to arduous spiritual practice and studied with renowned adepts of India before being initiated into the lineage of the Himalayan Tradition by his master, Sri Swami Rama, in 1976.
Pandit Tigunait is fluent in Vedic and Classical Sanskrit and holds two doctorates, one from the University of Allahabad (India), and another from the University of Pennsylvania. As a leading voice of YogaInternational.com and the author of 15 books, his teachings span a wide range, from scholarly analysis and scripture translation to practical guidance on applying yogic wisdom to modern life. Over the past 35 years, Pandit Tigunait has touched innumerable lives around the world as a teacher, guide, author, humanitarian, and visionary spiritual leader.
