About the Authors
Sun Guang-ren
Prof. Sun Guang-ren has served for many years at the Shandong University of TCM where he was awarded as Distinguished Teacher of Higher Education by the Shandong Provincial Government, and also honored as a Leading National Faculty Member by the National Health and Family Planning Commission of the Peoples Republic of China.
Prof. Suns main research interests include visceral state theory, TCM thinking methodology, and physical constitution and health cultivation. He is also Director of the Yi-Jing Science Branch of the China Natural Dialectics Research Association, and director of the TCM Philosophy and History Association.
He has acted as Chief Editor for the textbooks, Basic Theory of TCM, the National Standard Textbook for TCM Higher Education, Chinese Philosophy and TCM, the National Standard Textbook for Graduate Students, and the Basic TCM Theory for the International TCM Acupuncture Training Course. Prof. Sun has compiled 10 textbooks, and published more than 100 peer-reviewed papers.
Douglas Eisenstark
Douglas Eisenstark graduated from Emperors College in Santa Monica, California in 1996 and currently is a professor at Emperors. He has taught a wide range of subjects including Fundamentals of Chinese Medicine, Advanced Herbal Formulas and Clinical Point Selection. He currently supervises students in the clinics of Emperors College and Yo-san University. In addition to his private practice, he has worked for the Turnabout ASAP Acupuncture Detox Center, Venice Family Clinic and the L.A. Free Clinic. He served previously as editor for several PMPH publications including The Clinical Practice of Chinese Medicine: Eczema and The Treatment of Depressive Disorder with Chinese Medicine- An Integrative Approach. He has written for several journals including the Journal of Chinese Medicine. Douglas has made three trips to China for specialized studies in liver diseases, dermatology and oncology.
