Prof. M.K. Ghosh received his Bachelor of Science (Mechanical Engineering) degree in 1966 from Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi, India, M.Tech (1968) and Ph.D. (1979) in Mechanical Engineering respectively from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kharagpur, India. Professor Ghosh joined as a faculty member in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at IIT BHU, Varanasi in 1969 and subsequently worked as Professor of Mechanical Engineering since 1993. He has worked as a NRC Research Associate during 19821984 and as a Senior NRC Research Associate during 198990 at the NASA Lewis (Presently NASA Glenn), Research Center, Cleveland, OH (USA). He was a Professor of Mechanical Engineering in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at IIT Kharagpur during 198788. Professor Ghosh is a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers since 1984, a Life Member of the Tribology Society of India (TSI) and served as a member of the Executive Committee of the TSI during 199597. He is a member of the honorary editorial board of the journal Advances in Vibration Engineering, the scientific journal of the Vibration Institute of India. He is a recipient of the University Grants Commission of India Career Award in Engineering in 1984. Professor Ghoshs areas of research interests lie in Tribology, Vibration and Dynamics & Control of Mechanical Systems. He has published about 60 papers in peer reviewed international journals. Professor Ghosh has supervised about 33 graduate theses and 7 PhD theses.
Professor B. C. Majumdar received his Ph.D. in 1970 from Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur in Mechanical Engineering (Specialisation: Gas-lubricated Bearings). He joined as a Professor of Mechanical Engineering at IIT, Kharagpur in 1978, held Alexander von Humboldt-Foundation Fellowship, at various universities in Germany for more than two and a half years, held Senior Research Associateship of National Research Council, USA at NASA Lewis Research Centre, Cleveland, Ohio, USA for two years. He was visiting professor at Cranfield University, UK, Lulea Technical University, Sweden, Queensland University of Technology, Australia and Tokyo Denki University, Japan for short periods. Guided 18 Ph.D. candidates on various aspects of lubrication including hydrodynamic, hydrostatic, porous oil and gas bearings, surface roughness effect, elastodydrodynamically lubricated line and point contacts, published over 100 papers in reputed Journals abroad, written a text book on Tribology, has been a fellow of Indian National Academy of Engineering since 1997, Associate Editor of Advances in Tribology, USA and Member of Editorial Board, Journal of Engineering Tribology, Part J, Proc. IMECHE, UK.
Dr. Mihir Sarangi, B.E., M.Tech., Ph.D., is an assistant professor of Mechanical Engineering at Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur. Prior to the present assignment he served as a Sr. Lecturer in Department of Mechanical Engineering at Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay, held a post-doctoral fellowship at University of Kentucky, USA. He received the High Value Ph.D. Fellowship by IIT Kharagpur and DAAD Fellowship by Germany during his doctoral and master programmes, respectively. He has contributed 7 papers in reputed Journals abroad. His area of research interests are Tribology, Machine Design and Machine Dynamics.
