Firstly when drawing is just at its beginners stage, you must be knowing the ways by which colored pencil can be held in your hand with much ease. There are two basic ways to handle the colored pencil at initial level:
- First way by which you can hold the colored pencil is to hold it in the same way by which you hold it for writing anything.
- The second way which you can hold the colored pencil is the way by which you hold the colored pencil or brush in your hand for filling the in the colors.
The benefit of using the above mentioned styles is to control the pressure to exert on your hands with colored pencil in your hand when you draw anything by using paper. Its also beneficial for you in a way that holding the colored pencil in this way strengthens your grip and you are now in better position to begin drawing in any way.
Try to hold the colored pencil in a way which is comfortable way no matter which ever style you want to choose for it. Once you are done with the step which is so much basic, now you are all set to work on the ways of doing drawing with an easy and effective way.
Here, I am going to tell you that how you can start working on drawing with color colored pencils by just dealing with random lose drawing.
Now after you have learned that how you can become able to hold the colored pencil in your hand in a right way, next step is to draw loose lines or circles with any colored pencil of HB. You can try to draw various circles in beginning along with ovals, lines or any other shape while you are having colored pencil in one of your hand. You have to get an entire control over the drawing which is going to be done by you so you better use the force exerted by whole of your arms and not only your hand. When you exert full force by your arm there is a better chance that you will be having complete grip on what you draw loosely.
First when you start drawing random loose lines on paper, you are advised to choose the upper side of paper and then all you have to do is to draw lines on it randomly while at the same time you will be having your right figure there. While you are working on it, do not draw lines on paper just on random basis in any case, but firstly dray small lines in a steady way, followed by longer ones just after that.
Similarly, try to draw circles in the same way by keeping your hand loose as you did while you were drawing random lines before. Place the tip of your colored pencil on paper while at the same time, you are required to put your little figure on it and start drawing circles on random basis. When you move your hands in circular motion, you are actually making yourself ready to draw big circles later on.
The next step which you are going to do after what I have told you before is to do the smudging of shapes you have drawn before. If you follow the work of some great artist, you will look in to it that he uses the technique of smudging in to the drawing so that a more prominent look of what you have drawn. If you do not go for it. You would not be able to get the desired results. Mostly smudging is applied at the edges of the picture you have drawn to blend the colors and to give it a more artistic look.
In order to work with smudging in a right way, first draw any shape while using the technique of lose hand holding your colored pencil. After doing that, you are required to start smudging it by suing your thumb starting from the outlines towards inside of what you have drawn. It means you are going to smudge the lines of the picture you have drawn towards inside of it. If you do not want to use your thumb there is another option as well which you can opt easily. You can use another colored pencil without sharp edge and just start smudging your drawing with it from outline towards inside.
If you are looking for the reason behind working over the step which I have just mentioned above then keep this thing in mind that while you smudge the drawn thing, the sharp strokes of colored pencils are ultimately going to be merged into one another leaving behind drawing which is smooth just like to be drawn by an artist.
So these were the few simple steps by which you can start and can become an expert in drawing using colored pencil later on. This concept should be implemented every time when you are about to draw anything. Now you must be wondering that what this eye level is. The answer is that the eye level is that height with reference to which you see any object. It is the level of your eye which makes you able to see the object by using various dimensions and by which you will then be able to understand the basic form of the object you are working on and which you are drawing.
When you are going to look towards anything which is in front of you, you observe them by using different levels of your eyes and as a result, there will be different perspectives of the things which you actually observe. For instance, if you want to have demonstration of various eye levels, consider the following steps which I am going to tell you.
