Introduction

When it comes to our fur babies, we want the best. What better way to ensure they get the best in their food than to make it yourself. The wholesome ingredients give them a well-balanced diet without additives. We do not want all the additives that are in the store-bought dog food.

Some can be harmful to our pets, ending in kidney infections and diabetes. The salt and grain contents are not as good as we once thought. The ingredients we use are in our house cupboards and surprisingly can be used in dog food. Sweet potatoes and peanut butter are great to make snacks and chews with, while chicken, rice and vegetables are good to use in dog food. My dog loves vegetables and fruits. He will eat peas, carrots, tomatoes, apples, bananas and watermelon.

However, be careful of certain vegetables and fruits. Grapes are especially dangerous for dogs as onions. He sometimes thinks he is human. You can check online for the dos and donts to give your dog. The storage can be in containers that you freeze or in snack jars. Some have a short shelf life, while others will last.

I like to use a dog bone cookie cutter when I make some of his snacks; they are easier to store. Check your cupboards and start with a few basics to get started. He/she will love you for this great food.

• Mixed Vegetables, 1 can, drained
• Cooked Rice, 1 cup

Directions: 1. Mince the turkey in chopper. 2.

Add the mixed vegetables and rice. Combine well. 3. Serve 1 bowl or smaller servings. 4.
