One of the Southeastern countries of Asia, Laos is a small country where is known for its hilly settlements, limestone mountains, waterfalls, green, and flouring forests, and other amazing tourists attractions. Besides these, Laos is also known for its delicious and appetizing local meals that are exceptionally unique and mouth-watering. And some of these dishes will be shared for you to learn from and explore in this Laos Cookbook.
Known as Laos national meal, this herb and meat dish is everything you crave in a salad!! Prep Time: 10 Minutes Cooking Time: 05 Minutes Servings: 2 Servings Ingredients
- 1 handful bean sprouts
- 4 ounces ground chicken
- 1 tablespoon garlic
- 1 tablespoon salt
- 1 medium-sized onion (sliced)
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1 handful chopped coriander (stem and leaves)
- 1 tablespoon rice powder (toasted and sticky)
- 1 handful chopped lemongrass (the white part)
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 handful chopped banana flower
- 1 tablespoon chili powder
- 1 tablespoon minced galangal
- 2 sliced long beans
- 1 tablespoon pepper
Directions 1. Pour the oil in a pan. Add the ground chicken. Add salt and soy sauce. 2. 3. 3.
Transfer the chicken in a bowl. Add the remaining ingredients. 4. Mix thoroughly. 5. 6. 6.

2. Khao Poon
Simply made yet comforting!! Prep Time: 05 Minutes Cooking Time: 25 Minutes Servings: 2 Servings Ingredients
- 1 lemon (wedges)
- 1 pack vermicelli noodles (cooked, rinsed, and drained)
- 1 cup chicken broth
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 cup coconut milk (unsweetened)
- 2 tablespoons red curry paste
- 1 tablespoon fish sauce
- 1 cup shredded cabbage
- 1 fillet (tilapia)
- 1 handful chopped coriander
- 60z. bamboo shoots (rinsed and drained)
- 1 tablespoon salt
- 1 tablespoon pepper
Directions 1. Put the oil in a pan. Add the curry paste. 2. 2.
Add the broth, coconut milk, pepper, salt, sauce, and the fillets. Cook for 15 minutes. 3. Add the bamboo shoots. Stir your mixture well. 4.
Serve your noodles with the coriander, cabbage, lemon juice, and the broth mixture. 5. Enjoy!
3. Tum Mak Hoong
This smash and mix dish is uniquely fragrant and delicious!! Prep Time: 10 Minutes Cooking Time: NIL Servings: 6 Servings Ingredients
- 3 handfuls shredded green papaya (raw)
- 3 handfuls shredded carrots
- 3 chilies
- 2 cloves garlic
- 1 tablespoon salt
- 1 tablespoon shrimp paste
- 3 handfuls snake beans (cut in strips)
- 1 tablespoon sugar (brown)
- 4 handful chopped cherry tomatoes
- 2 tablespoons fish sauce
- 1 lemon (sliced)
Directions 1. Put the sugar, garlic, salt, chilies, and shrimp paste in a mortar. 2.
Grind with a pestle till they are well combined. 3. Add the snake beans, fish sauce, papaya, carrots, lemon, and cherry tomatoes. 4. Grind till all ingredients are well combined. Serve. 6. 6.

4. Spicy Dipping Sauce
The perfect sauce to complement your seafood or meats!! Prep Time: 05 Minutes Cooking Time: NIL Servings: 3 Servings Ingredients
- 1 lemon juice
- 1 clove garlic
- 2 tablespoons fish sauce
- 6 chilies
- 2 tablespoon sugar
- 1 tablespoon salt
Directions 1. Put the chilies, garlic, and lemon in a mortar. Pound well. 2. Add the salt, sugar, and fish sauce.
Pound to incorporate the Ingredients . 3. Serve with chopped coriander. 4. Enjoy!
5. Jeow Bong
Spicy, flavorful, and tasty dont begin to describe this dip! Prep Time: 15 Minutes Cooking Time: 10 Minutes Servings: 2 Servings Ingredients
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 5 red chilies (long)
- 4 red shallots (chopped and roasted)
- 10-gram galangal (chopped and roasted)
- 3 cloves garlic (chopped and roasted)
- 40-gram mackerel (boiled, skinless, and boneless)
- 1 tablespoon palm sugar
- 1 tablespoon fish sauce
- 15-gram tamarind pulp (soaked and drained.
Discard solids)
- 1 handful shredded kaffir lime leaves
Directions 1. Add all the ingredients except for oil in a food processor. Blend till coarse. 2. Pour the oil in a pan. 3. 3.
Fry for 5 minutes. 4. Garnish with the shredded cabbage, basil, and snake beans. 5. Serve and enjoy.
