Chapter One: The Benefits of Tea
W hen it comes to detoxing your body, there are many available methods of achieving your goals. The Tea Cleanse: A 2-Week Plan to Lose Up to 20 Pounds and Boost Your Metabolism focuses on the benefits of using all natural teas to achieve the healthier lifestyle that you are seeking. In this chapter, we will take a look at some of the great benefits that various tea blends can have and why you should consider making them a regular part of your tea cleanse routine.
In this chapter, you will learn about how:
- Tea is Packed with Anti-Oxidants
- Tea is Hydrating
- Drinking Tea Could Result In A Lower BMI
- Green Tea Improves Bone Mineral Density
- Tea Influences Brain Health
Tea Is Packed With Antioxidants
T ea is exceptionally rich in antioxidants particularly green tea and black tea varieties. These antioxidants are thought to have cancer-fighting benefits in the fight against breast, colorectal, colon, lung, skin, stomach, esophagus, pancreatic, small intestine, ovarian, liver, oral and prostate cancers!
Antioxidants are what your body uses to protect your cells and heal them from attacks from free radicals that are produced when your body absorbs oxygen. The process of cell oxidation is what leaves your body more prone to illnesses like cancer, Alzheimers disease and some degenerative diseases that are commonly associated with the aging process. The ability of antioxidants to reverse the effects of the free radicals that contribute to these diseases is what leads many people to hail them as being an anti-aging substance.
Because tea is so packed full of anti-oxidants, it is great for detoxing the body because it helps to heal existing damage from exposure to free radicals while also protecting cells from further damage!
Tea Is Hydrating
T here is an old myth that drinks that contain caffeine cannot also be hydrating, but when it comes to tea that couldnt be further from the truth. A research study sponsored by the United Kingdom Tea Council and published in the European Journal of Clinical Nutrition in 2006 found that tea is, in fact, hydrating. In their research, the team found that in order to have a net gain of fluid an individual could drink up to eight cups of tea a day! (Although this is certainly not recommended!) The researchers ultimately found that tea can hydrate the body just as effectively as water. Now, were not recommending that you replace the recommended daily water intake with tea, but we are saying that there is no danger of becoming dehydrated from drinking tea and think of all of those lovely antioxidants youre taking in as well!
Drinking Tea Could Result in a Lower BMI
I t may seem absurd to say that an individual who drinks tea has a better chance of having a low BMI than someone who doesnt, but this very subject was the topic of study by JA Vernarelli and JD Lambert in 2013. The researchers found that individuals in their study who drank hot tea regularly had a reduced chance of obesity; this information was obtained based on waist circumference and BMI.
So just why is drinking hot tea related to lowered BMI? One of the reasons why tea helps to keep weight in check is the presence of catechins. Catechins can be found in certain teas and have been proven to change the concentration of malondialdehyde-modified LDL found in the blood. Malondialdehyde in combination with thiobarbituric acid reactive substances in the blood has shown to positively correlate to an individual's BMI.
Green Tea Improves Bone Mineral Density
I n addition to being rich in catechins, green tea is also said to help to improve bone mineral density as well as overall strength. A research study performed and published in 2012 found that green tea polyphenol supplementation resulted in improved body composition as well as bone properties. The reason researchers believe this result came to be is through the green tea polyphenols ability to reduce inflammation and enhancing antioxidant capacity. While improving bone mineral density may not have much to do with cleansing your body of impurities, it does have lot to do with maintaining your overall health into your advanced age! Yet another great reason to drink more tea!
Tea Influences Brain Health
D rinking tea has not only been shown to be linked to a lower risk of developing Parkinsons disease, but it has also been shown to be an effective agent in preventing as well as treating other neurological diseases. Most commonly benefitted by tea are degenerative neurological diseases like Alzheimers it is thought that the polyphenols present in green tea, in particular, help to maintain the areas of the human brain that are responsible for the regulation of memory and learning.
Chapter Two: Understanding Your Tea
N o matter what type of teas you choose to utilize for tea cleanses and medicinal healing, there are certain elements that are found in all tea drinks. These elements are what make teas applicable for healing such a wide variety of ailments and problems including obesity. In this chapter, we will take a look at some of these elements and how they contribute to healing and detoxifying the body, which in turn promotes healthy weight loss.
