Dr Tom Smith has been a medical journalist and author since 1977, after spending six years in general practice and seven years in medical research. He continued in part-time practice until 2012. He has written regular columns in the Scottish Sunday Mail , The Guardian , the Bradford Telegraph & Argus , the Carrick Gazette and the Galloway Gazette . He still writes a weekly column for the Lancashire Telegraph . He has regular spots on BBC Radio Scotland in the Morning Call and MacAulay and Co. programmes. He has written three humorous books on his experiences in practice: A Seaside Practice, Going Loco and Doctor, Have You Got A Minute?, all published by Short Books.
