CHAPTER ONE

INTRODUCTION TO ADOBE PHOTOSHOP 2022

My next-door neighbour enjoys taking pictures of anyone and anything. With his phone, he would take a shot from any angle he deemed suitable. I always wondered why he remained regular in his picture ventures in our unattractive compound. After each photo session, I always dreaded seeing the result. For one, I knew that the megapixel of his phone was not built for crystal clear shots. I was also aware that the background of our compound was not the ideal Instagram photo standard.

However, every time he sent me my pictures, they looked too good to be true. The photo quality is second to none. When asked how he did the photo miracle, he kept referring to a secret spice . This spice in the form of a software application used for editing pictures on the Microsoft Windows Operating systems is called Adobe Photoshop.

Beyond photography, Adobe Photoshop is a masterpiece that serves as a very useful tool in the hands of designers, web developers, graphic designers, and other professionals in the creative field. It is software used for retouching, editing, creating images, and adding effects to them. It is the multipurpose photo editor used for editing all types of photos, 2D or 3D images respectively.

Types of Adobe Photoshop

There are various types of Adobe Photoshop software. These include:

Photoshop CS of 2003;

Photoshop CS2 of 2005;

Photoshop CS3 of 2007;

Photoshop CS4 of 2008;

Photoshop CS5 of 2010;

Photoshop CS6 of 2012;

Photoshop CC;

Photoshop CC 2014;

Photoshop CC 2015;

Photoshop CC 2018;

Photoshop CC 2019, and;

Photoshop CC 2020.

The above list implies that Adobe Photoshop has been in existence for over a decade, every new version much better than the previous one. As technology continually experiences a paradigm shift, Adobe continues to improve in quality. We present to you the much anticipated Adobe Photoshop 2022 in all its glory; we will take you through a deep understanding of this Photoshopping tool; how to effectively utilize its features:

Object Finder: helps you look for images in your current files, highlight and make a selection easily.

Adobe censor artificial intelligence: this can help you scan images to detect exactly what the image is. Through this, you can highlight the preferred images, hold down the Shift key to add to the selection.

Mum's rectangular XO: this can be used to manually select objects without using the object finder.

Refine Edge Brush tool: is used to carefully paint out all unwanted parts of your selected image to give it a final perfect touch. It can be found in the right-hand corner of your Adobe Photoshop 2022.

• Output setting: to leave the desired image alone, void of any unwanted edges, ensure to set your output setting as a layer mask and select ok to update layer musk.

Dodge tool: this can be set to highlight the desired images in a bid to help you make a selection of pictures easily. Alternatively, you can duplicate the layer by clicking on CMD/Ctrl+J once or twice to merge the layers, blocking out unwanted layers fully.

Images can be selected and edited in a cloud version or a device version which you can use via Adobe when you are connected to the internet.

The device version gives a quicker result. On the other hand, in the cloud version, we get a better result.

• Harmonization: This is a filter feature, which allows you to merge the colours between layers when you are creating composites; It can be done by simply selecting the image you want to edit and playing around with the harmonization features. Images can be changed to a snowy, desert, rainy or any other desired background.

Cloud Document: This is a well-organized document that helps you to share files and cooperate with other creative.

Themes and Spaces: this is a very vast storage space for keeping records of your cloud documents, cc files, and very important files.

Moreso, you can also invite people to have access to your themes and spaces.

Content Credentials: this feature records and attaches any changes made to an image. This makes it easy for anyone added to the themes to identify the kinds of alterations carried out on the image.

Gradience: With the gradient fill layer or gradient tool , you can choose from different interpellation methods.

Colour Transfer: is a very powerful neuro-filter, which helps you merge colours, contrast, change colour, add warmth to the image by simply:

1. Selecting your desired image;
2. Click on the filter and select neuro-filter;
3. Navigate to colour transfer;
4. Choose any of the custom background filters and apply ;

Understanding the Adobe Photoshop Home screen

Opening Photoshop and enabling its home screen causes delay. To avoid this, disabling the home screen is the best solution. To do this:

At the top menu, click on edit.

Navigate to preferences and click on general .

Uncheck the auto-show/disable the home screen feature and click on ok.
