A hh.... Summer holidays are finally here! How I longed for the day to arrive! No more schools, no more having to wake up early in the mornings, no more homework, but games and games all day long!
Such was the dream I had for my summer holidays. I even made a list of the games I wanted to conquer by the end of summer.
That wonderful dream came crashing down during the first day of summer break itself.
We were at the public pool near our house when Dad saw one of his ex-students. He was wearing a lifeguard jersey. He used to be one of the most notorious kids in town. However, on one fateful summer holiday, his parents decided to send him for a summer job.
He returned as a responsible and hardworking teenager. Gone were the days of trashing the neighborhood bins or throwing eggs as a prank.
What really put a big smile on dad's face was that he called him 'sir'. He was still smiling from ear to ear when he left to tend to his work, eyeing a kid preparing to cannonball into the pool.
I saw the scene unfold with my very own eyes. I dread what they had in mind as they looked at each other thoughtfully.
"Uh oh...it seems like someone's going to spend his summer break in military camp," said Justin who was watching beside me. My older brother looked joyfully at me. "If you don't make it back, I will be taking over your room as well, alright? Better not waste it yeah?"
"No....I don't want to spend my holidays in a military camp!"
Blub.
A bubble popped at the surface, releasing its contents of green gas.
"EWW!!! NOOB!" Justin shouted as he scrambled away from the smell.
One week later, Mom told me the news. They didn't really ask for my opinion, but rather gave me a choice. I could either choose to take up a summer job or sign up for military academy when school reopens.
One month is better than one year.
So there I was, in front of Builder Brothers Pizzeria. I was nervous to start my first day of work. Steadying my steps, I walked past the sliding door and into the dining hall.
To be honest, I couldn't help but get excited at this new experience. I mean, if I'm working, I will get paid, right? Plus, I could use this to tell a great story to my friends when school starts again!
Today was recruitment day, so there were other Robloxes as well besides me.
I saw a cute Roblox with long, golden hair. She looked at me and smiled. I was about to say hi when the manager entered.
"Hello, everyone! Welcome to Builder Brothers Pizzeria! I am Sanchez, the current manager of this place." He smiled widely at us.
"Now, let me go through how this place works. You will be placed on a rotation basis to the various departments that we have here. There is the Supplier, Pizza Boxer, Pizza Delivery, Cook, and Cashier. Each role is important and gives you an insight as to how a Pizzeria is run! Of course, there is the Manager post, but it is held by me at the moment. Hahaha!" He guffawed at his own remark.
"Now that the introduction is over, shall we get to work?" Sanchez said as he rubbed his hands together. "We are currently short of staff in Supplier..you don't work here, but will be going to the warehouse at the other end of town. Any volunteers?"
Pffffffuuuuuuuut.
I just had to fart at that exact moment, a loud but thankfully not smelly fart. Everyone else took a step back anyways, leaving me in front.
"Great! You can start work immediately, yes?" said the Mr. Sanchez, assuming that I took a step forward. "All others can start work tomorrow and take the day off to explore the place!" He looked at me. "Now, what is your name?"
"Uhm....I'm Noob." I stammered.
"Hello, Noob. Let's get to the warehouse, shall we?"
S o my first job here was as the Supplier. I have no idea what to do as a Supplier. The manager was 'kind' enough to drive me all the way to the warehouse from the pizzeria.
He left without saying a word though. I stood idly by myself until I heard a voice calling out.
"Oi! You there!" called out a Roblox in a deep, gruff voice.
I turned to look around me, wondering who he was calling out to. He did not appear to be friendly, so I hoped he was calling someone else.
"You, the one looking around" shouted the Roblox again.
I pointed at myself. "Me?"
"For crying out loud, do you see anyone else around you?" A tinge of annoyance in his voice.
"I guess not....."
"You're the new staff, right? Get over here! I'll teach you how to work this thing." He motioned me to go over. "I'm sure Sanchez would've told ya, but we really are short staffed right now, so I need you to learn fast, alright? I'm Morty. Pleasure to meet ya." He extended his hand for a shake.
