Rnd 1: Beg at neck opening with blue, ch 30, making sure not to twist ch, join(see Pattern Notes) in first ch to form ring, ch 3(see Pattern Notes), dc in same ch as beg ch-3, dc in next ch, *2 dc in next ch, dc in next ch, rep from * around, join in 3rd ch of beg ch-3. (45 dc)

Rnd 2: Ch 3, dc in same ch as beg ch-3, dc in each of next 4 dc, *2 dc in next dc, dc in each of next 4 dc, rep from * around, join in 3rd ch of beg ch-3. (54 dc)

Rows 815: Ch 1, sc in each st across, turn. At end of last row, fasten off.

Edging

With RS of Dress facing, join off-white in unused front lp(see StitchGuide.com) of st at center back on rnd 5, ch 1, (sc, ch 3, sc) in same lp, working in rem unused front lps, sk next lp, *(sc, ch 3, sc) in next lp, sk next lp, rep from * around, join in beg sc. Fasten off.

Assembly

With tapestry needle and off-white, sew bottom edge of Edging to front and back of Dress to lay flat.

To gather towel, sew across center width of towel using large stitches. With RS tog, align top front of Dress between rnds 4 and 5 from center of Topper by gathering stitches. Pin in place. Referring to Figure A on last page, sew Topper to towel between rnds 4 and 5, removing pins as you sew across towel. Turn work.

Cut 4 strips of hook-and-loop tape each 1 inches long. Referring to Figure B on last page, sew a strip in each of the top left and top right corners as indicated.

With RS of back flap facing, sew a strip in each of the bottom left and bottom right corners about 1 to 2 rows above sewing line where Topper joins towel.

Sew -inch buttons evenly sp to center of Dress front. Fold Dress in half toward back and secure with hook-and-loop tape.

Make 2.

Rnd 1 (RS): With blue, ch 4, join(see Pattern Notes) in first ch to form ring, ch 3(see Pattern Notes), 15 dc in ring, join in 3rd ch of beg ch-3. Fasten off. (16 dc)

Rnd 2: Join off-white in any dc, ch 3, dc in same dc, ch 2, sk next dc, *2 dc in next dc, ch 2, sk next dc, rep from * around, join in 3rd ch of beg ch-3. Fasten off. (16 dc, 8 ch-2 sps)

Rnd 3: Sk joining st and next dc on rnd 2, join light blue in next sk dc on rnd 1 below, ch 7(see Pattern Notes), sk next 2 dc on working rnd, *dc in next sk dc on rnd 1 below, pulling dc up to current height of working rnd, ch 4, sk next 2 dc on working rnd, rep from * around, join in 3rd ch of beg ch-7. Fasten off. (8 dc, 8 ch-4 sps)

Rnd 4: Join blue in any dc, ch 1, sc in same dc, working over next ch-4 sp, 3 dc in each of next 2 sk dc on rnd 2 below, *sc in next dc on working rnd, working over next ch-4 sp, 3 dc in each of next 2 sk dc on rnd 2 below, rep from * around, join in beg sc. Fasten off. (48 dc, 8 sc)

Rnd 5: Join off-white in any sc, ch 3, 2 dc in same sc, ch 1, 3 dc between next 2 3-dc groups, ch 1, *3 dc in next sc, ch 1, 3 dc between next 2 3-dc groups, ch 1, rep from * around, join in 3rd ch of beg ch-3. Fasten off. (48 dc, 16 ch-1 sps)

Rnd 6: Join light blue in 2nd dc of any 3-dc group on rnd 4 below, ch 7, *sk next 3 dc on working rnd, dc in 2nd dc of next 3-dc group on rnd 4 below, ch 4, rep from * around, join in 3rd ch of beg ch-7. Fasten off. (16 dc, 16 ch-4 sps)

Hold pieces with WS tog, carefully matching sts, working through both thicknesses, join off-white in any sc, ch 1, (sc, ch 3, sc) in same sc, *sk next sc, (sc, ch 3, sc) in next sc, rep from * around to last 3 sc, sk next sc, (sc, ch 10, sc) in next sc (hanging lp made), sk last sc, join in beg sc. Fasten off.
