Berry Cute SummerDresses

Berry CuteStrawberry Dress See Open Top Hat at endof pattern book.

Materials: Worsted weight yarn, red, 2 ounces, (about100 yds), green, 1 ounce (about 50 yards ), white, about 8 yards.Size F or G crochet hook for buttons loops, plus 2 buttons about inch diameter.

Knitting needles US #8

Gauge: 9sts = 2 inches

Directions:

Beginning at bottom of skirt, withgreen, cast on 85 sts. K 2 rows.

Border pattern: Join red,and * k 1 red, k 3 green *, repeating across, ending k 1red.

Row 2 - P across, with yarns infront of work, in colors as established.

Row 3 - K 2 red, * k 1 green, k 3red *, repeat between *s across row ending in k 1 green, k 2red.

Row 4 - As row 2. Row 5 - Cutgreen, and p back in red.

Start seed dot pattern: Joinwhite, k 1 white, * k 3 red, k 1 white *, repeat between *sacross.

Then in red only, p 1 row, k 1row, p 1 row, k 1 row.

Next seed dot row: P 2red, p 1 white, * p 3 red, p 1 white *, repeating across ending p 2red.
In red only, k 1 row, p 1 row, k 1 row, p 1 row.

Repeat these 10 rows for skirtpattern until about 5 inches from beginning of work, ending on pside row, at least 1 row above last white seed row.

Waist decrease: * k 2 tog*, across, ending k 3 tog. 42 sts.

Slip the first 10 sts and last 10 sts ofrow onto stitch holders for back sections.
Join yarn at front, armhole edge side. Work in stockinette st onfront 22 sts as follows: k across right side of work, wrong side, k3, p across k last 3 sts, until length from yarn join is about 3inches, ending on p row.

Neck shaping: K across 7sts, bind off center 8 sts, k remaining sts. (Should be 7 sts eachshoulder edge side.)

Turn work, then k 3, p across.Turn, k across. Turn, bind off.
Join yarn at opposite shoulder section at neck edge, p across,ending k 3.

Next row k 3, p across. Turn, bindoff.

Back section side for leftside: Join yarn at armhole edge and k across, casting on 2 stsend of row. Turn, next row, k 3 border, p across to last 3 sts, k 3(armhole edge). Continue to repeat these 2 rows, until about 3inches from yarn join, ending at neck edge.

Neck shaping: At centerneck edge side, bind off first 5 sts, complete row. Work one morerow as established, then bind off. For opposite side, join yarn atcenter back, and work as left side section.
Sew shoulder seams of front and back sections. Then sew under armseams, leaving a good 2 inch opening , measuring from top ofshould down. Sewing up underarm side seam upwards until you have a2 inch opening for armhole. Repeat with other side. Sew up backseam of skirt up to the 2 cast on sts each side of backsections.

Back button loops: Make 2. With crochet hook, make a small chainabout inch long, or, long enough to fit over the buttons you havechosen. Fasten off and form this into a loop, circle.

Sew loops to back of dress on leftside, spacing loops at least 1 inch apart from top down.

Sew buttons opposite side to matchloop placement.

Strawberry leaf collar:Collar is made with points or leaves, joined and knit together.Use green yarn on Strawberry dress. Starting at first leaf point,cast on 2 sts.
Row 1 - K in front and back of first st, k 1. (3 sts)
Row 2 - K 1, k in front and back on next st, k 1. (4sts)

Row 3 - K 1 row.
Row 4 - K 1, k in front and back on each of next 2 sts, k 1 (6sts)

Row 5 - K 1, k in front and backof next st, k 2, k in front and back of next st, k 1. (8sts)

Row 6 - K across. Slide this leafpoint to end of needle, and make 6 more leaf points.
Now, making sure all leaf points are next to each other on needle,k across row. (56 sts)

Decrease row: K 4 * k 2tog, k 2 *, repeating across, ending k 4. (32sts)
K 1 row, then bind off in k st.
Place collar, bound off edge around neckline of front and backsections of top of dress, and pin in place.

You may have to ease it in aroundfront part, but it will fit. Starting at one back side edge, sewcollar around neck with a whip stitch (or sometimes called overcaststitch). Fasten off.

Berry Cute, Blueberry SummerDress

Materials: Worsted weight yarn, (We used Red Heart Super Saver, Lavendercolor) about 2 ounces or about 100 yards. Knitting needles US #8.Yarn sewing needle, and size F or G crochet hook for button loops.2 Small buttons, about inchdiameter.

Gauge: 9 sts = 2inches

Directions:

Dress is started at bottom ofskirt. Cast on 55 sts. K 3 rows.

Increase: Inc in first stby knitting in front and back of st, k 1, * inc in next st, k 1 *repeat between *s across row, ending with inc in last st. (83sts)

P next row. Next row, knittingacross, inc 1 st in first and last st of row. (85 sts). P nextrow.
Now work in stockinette st (k 1 row,p 1 row) until length frombeginning of work is about 5 inches, ending on p siderow.

Decrease for waist: * K 2 tog *, repeating across, ending k3 tog. (42 sts). P next row.

Divide for frontand backsections: Slip first 10 sts and last 10 sts on holders for backsections.
Join yarn at center front of dress, at arm edge. First row, k 10, p2, k 10. Next row, k 2, p across to last 2 sts, k 2. Repeat these 2rows until length from armhole yarn join is about 3 inches endingon p row.

Neck shaping: In pattern asestablished, work across first 7 sts, bind off center 8, workremaining sts. Should be 7 sts each should edge.

Now turn work, on these 7 sts,work across, turn work, work one more row, then bind off. Join yarnat neck edge of opposite shoulder size, and work 2 rows, then bindoff. For back sections, work as for back left and right back piecesof Strawberry dress. Sew up side seams as directed in strawberrydress.
With same color yarn, work petal point collar as in Strawberrydress. Or you can use green. Sew around neck edge as directed inStrawberry dress. Sew up back seam of dress up to the cast on 2band sts in back.
Make button loops as in Strawberry dress and complete as inStrawberry dress.
