To my sister-in-law Kathy Durow who without your help in so many ways this book could not have been possible.
If this book prevents just one more mother, wife, sister or cousin from having to suffer the lifelong pain of forever wondering what they could have done to prevent a tragedy, then it has fulfilled
its purpose.
I see your bandage;
I understand your pain.
I sense the pain.
When theres no bandage to view.
Im OK keeps me at bay.
I cannot understand your pain,
But there are those who can.
So I need not live wondering why
May you rest in peace Ben Durow
Acknowledgements
I am a Happy Wife! This book would not be possible without the love and support of my wonderful husband Erik who has continued to cherish, push and expand my boundaries. I think Erik has spent almost as much time on editing as I did on writing this book, I love you and thank you for sharing this journey
with me.
To my son Jacob, I sincerely hope you will make someone a happy wife who will cherish and love you, as I do Erik, and give you that household of kids your heart desires.
To my dad, Brent, if only I had been able to share you some of the learnings in the book, you would not have needed three marriages to look for the love you needed to find within before someone could fulfil your needs. You were my hero in so many ways, but it took the fall from grace to teach me the things I needed to grow my own relationships. May you rest in peace.
To the team at Global Publishing you have been there each step of the journey and thank you for your patience and guidance in making this path possible to achieve a dream I had not even considered before attending your book writing event.
To the men and women who read this book. I sincerely hope you find one gem within this book to continue the growth in all your relationships. Remember one thing. Stop being so hard on yourself! It will only be then, that you will stop being hard on your partner. There is no such thing as failure, only feedback, take the learnings, reflect, and simply take another direction. We often have to go in many directions before we find the right path, and thats ok.

Foreword
Congratulations on purchasing this book. The construction industry is one of the largest employing industries in Australia, with the Civil Contractors Federation being the peak industry body supporting members who are responsible for the construction and maintenance of major infrastructure, including roads, bridges, pipelines, drainage, ports and utilities.
CCF members also play a vital role in the residential and commercial building industry by providing earthmoving and land development services including the provision of power, water, communications and gas.
As the Chief Executive Officer for the Civil Contractors Federation Victoria I am acutely aware of the pressures that our members are under, on a daily basis, to complete complex projects in tight timeframes while remaining financially viable. Added to this is the responsibility of ensuring that safety and welfare of all, remains a high priority.
Now more than ever, with an increasing focus in the Australian community on mental health, it is becoming clear that outcomes can have a diverse effect on business and industry. After all, very few people are able to completely separate their personal life from the work life. Consequently, situations that occur at home affect employee performance at work, and vice versa. Therefore, workers state of mental health affects all aspects of their lives, including their performance and safety at work.
