Materials
Bernat Softee Baby light (DK) weight acrylic yarn (5 oz/362 yds/140g per ball):
3 balls #2000 white
Size D/3/3.25mm [E/4/3.5mm, F/5/3.75mm] crochet hook or size needed to obtain gauge
Tapestry needle
Sewing needle
White sewing thread
-inch-wide pink satin ribbon: 2 yds
-inch white buttons: 5
Gauge
Size D hook: 4 shells = 3 inches
Size E hook: 4 shells = 3 inches
Size F hook: 4 shells = 3 inches
Pattern Notes
Weave in loose ends as work progresses.
Chain-3 at beginning of row or round counts as first double crochet unless otherwise stated.
Join with slip stitch as indicated unless otherwise stated.
Chain-2 at beginning of round counts as first half double crochet unless otherwise stated.

Row 16: Ch 3, dc in same dc as beg ch-3, shell in ch-2 sp of each of next 7 shells, sk next 11 shells (armhole opening), shell in ch-2 sp of each of next 12 shells, sk next 11 shells (armhole opening), shell in ch-2 sp of each of next 7 shells, 2 dc in last dc, turn. (26 shells, 4 dc)
Rnd 17: Now working in rnds, ch 3, dc in same st as beg ch-3, shell in ch-2 sp of each of next 26 shells, 2 dc in last dc, ch 2, join(see Pattern Notes) in 3rd ch of beg ch-3. (27 shells)
Rnd 18 (RS): Sl st in ch-2 sp of shell, beg shell(see Special Stitches) in same ch-2 sp, [shell in ch-2 sp of next shell] around, join in 3rd ch of beg ch-3, do not turn.
Rnds 1939: Rep rnd 18.
Rnd 40: Sl st in ch-2 sp of shell, beg dbl shell(see Special Stitches) in same ch-2 sp, [dbl shell(see Special Stitches) in ch-2 sp of shell] around, join in 3rd ch of beg ch-3. (27 dbl shells)
Rnd 41: Sl st in ch-2 sp of shell, beg shell in same ch-2 sp, shell in each ch-2 sp around, join in beg ch-3. (54 shells)
Rnds 42 & 43: Rep rnd 18.
Rnd 44: Sl st in ch-2 sp of shell, ch 1, sc in same ch-2 sp, *ch 2, [tr, picot(see Special Stitches)] 7 times in ch-2 sp of next shell, ch 2**, sc in ch-2 sp of next shell, rep from * around, ending last rep at **, join in beg sc. Fasten off.
Neckline Edging
Rnd 1 (RS): Join with sc in side edge of row 17, sc in same st, working up back opening, 2 sc in side edge of each of next 4 rows, sc in each of next 12 rows, working in opposite side of foundation ch of Neckline, ch 3, sk first ch, [sc in next ch, ch 3, sk next 2 sts] across to last st, sk last st, working down opposite edge of back opening, sc in each of next 12 rows, 2 sc in each of next 5 rows, join in beg sc, turn.
Row 2: Working up back opening, ch 1, sc in each of next 22 sc, turn.
Row 3: Working down back opening, ch 1, sc in each of next 2 sts, [ch 2, sk next sc, sc in each of next 4 sc] 4 times (4 buttonholes), working on opposite edge for button placket, sc in each of next 21 sc, sl st in next sc. Fasten off.
With sewing needle and thread, sew buttons on button placket opposite buttonholes.
Armhole Edging
Working in 11 skipped shells of Row 15 on Armhole, join with sc in first shell, [ch 2, {tr, picot} 7 times in next shell, ch 2, sc in next shell] 5 times. Fasten off.
Rep on opposite Armhole.
Finishing
Cut a 36-inch length of pink ribbon and tie in a bow around 1 st on row 2 at center front.
Rnd 1: With size D [E, F] hook, ch 6, join to form a ring, ch 3, dc in ring, ch 1, [2 dc in ring, ch 1] 7 times, join in beg ch-3. (16 dc, 8 ch-1 sps)
