Having long been associated with sprawling, armpit-hair-clad, animal-rights warrior types, the animal-product-free lifestyle is now more closely aligned with ripped, mildly hipster-ish gym bunnies such as bolshy bloggers Vegan Bros.

To our parents.
Mom, lets be honest, youre probably the only reason either of us actually graduated from high school. You hustled us from church to soccer, to baseball, to basketball, and you probably single-handedly wrote most of our meaningful reports in school. We always knew we were the most important things in your life.
Dad, your day job as a commercial pilot had you traveling nonstop, but somehow you managed to be our best friend, our coach, and our biggest cheerleader. You instilled in us the idea that somehow we could accomplish anything we wanted. And here we are having written an actual book.
Lillie, Skyler, and Peyton. You showed us the emotional bond and connection we are capable of having with animals. The joy you all had for playing ball and taking rides in the car was contagious. You are the reason we fight for all animals.
Set your mind on a definite goal and observe how quickly the world stands aside to let you pass.

CONTENTS
INTRODUCTION
H I WE RE P HIL AND M ATT . Were brothers. Were writers. And were vegan.
First off, you might ask, Are you guys also pieces of shit?
No. There is a difference between vegan and piece of shit. But there are the people who are both at the same time.
We, on the other hand, do our best to have love for everyone. And we know you may have interacted with a vegan piece of shit in the past. On behalf of all the vegans and all the animals, were sorry you experienced that.
We totally understand if you want to let that experience, or those experiences, cloud the way you view vegan eating. But we beg you to give us another chance.
If Beyonc, Jay-Z, Jared Leto, Mike Tyson, Kylie Jenner, Serena Williams, Miley Cyrus, Liam Hemsworth, Olivia Wilde, Tony Gonzalez, Joaquin Phoenix, and Brad Pitt are exploring it or 100 percent on-board now, then maybe were on to something with this whole vegan thing.
A vegan is two things:
Someone who thinks its wrong to brutally torture and kill animals. Thats 90 percent of the definition.
Someone who doesnt support torturing animals with their diet. Thats the last 10 percent that most of us have fucked up on.
We acknowledge that were all on our own unique personal journey. Rather than look for ways to exclude people, we try to be as inclusive as possible. If youre opposed to animal abuse and you enjoy fruit or, hell, an Oreo (yes, theyre vegan), guess what? Youre already 90 percent vegan. Were just here to help you get that final 10 percent. Or at least move a few more percentage points up.
One of the reasons that we wanted to write this book was because, as veganism has risen and become very popular in the mainstream, there was also a small segment of vegans who were assholes.
There used to be a joke about vegans. A vegan walks into a bar... and I only know this because he told everyone within two minutes. Okay, we get it. Vegans were pretty outspoken about their veganity in the past.
But its not that way anymore.
We became vegans for two basic reasons: we loved animals, and we wanted to be healthy and fit. Refusing to eat animals, and products derived from animals, helps spare a bunch of adorable critters torture and death while also keeping us toned as fuck. And thats good. But we also want people to know what eating vegan is NOT.
Eating vegan is NOT...
A way for you to feel superior to other people. Hey, were all human, were all composed of similar weaknesses and flaws. And for a lot of people, one big commonality is that we want to matter, we want to stand out, we want to be special. A productive way to achieve that perfectly reasonable goal is to do things like learn shit, work out, and have stimulating conversations with interesting people and
