Ron approached me several months ago with an idea about writing a story. What if, he excitedly explained, we could share the basic principles of building a network through a story? Lets make it easy for anyone to learn what to do.
I have listened to Ron teach about networking, and if anyone knows how to do it, he does. I was hooked on the idea, and we got started. The ideas started coming, and the story, piece by piece, came together. Twenty-one days became the theme. If one practices something for 21 days, conventional wisdom says that the behavior becomes a habit. The idea was exciting, and people whom we met shared our enthusiasm. Then Ron met John Bryans, editor-in-chief and publisher of the Books Division of Information Today, Inc. John was intrigued. We began to see that our idea might become reality.
In addition to the tremendous editorial and moral support weve received from John and his staff, we are blessed to have had access to the keen insights and the talented eye of Ariane Cagle of Cagle Multimedia (caglemultimedia.com). Ariane crystallized the concepts, making them clearer without changing Gniks voice or personality.
Then we decided that Gnik should have a face. We found a lot of ideas that didnt completely capture the look we had imagined, but Kim Sharpe of CodeKIM3D (codeKim3D.blogspot.com) nailed it. She has done a phenomenal job of giving Gnik and Pam the look that was in our heads but we couldnt get out.
