This book was full of so many great factsand figures as well as photos of some truly scary looking places. While I have not visited any of these places, after reading this Iam more apt to seek them out, especially with a daughter that lovesscary things. The book was well written, short and to the point, but the author does not leave out any detail. She does a great jobat describing the locations completely and gives you as a reader aclear glimpse into what you can expect (or not expect) when youvisit these locations. It was well written and for anyone who loveshaunted places, this is definitely the book for you!

Introduction
As the author of numerous ghost books, I havebeen asked a lot of questions about ghostly phenomenon over theyears, including some really strange questions. But the most commonquery I get is something that you may be wondering too, How andwhy did you start writing ghost books?
There are two reasons. First, I love a goodghost story. After all, I grew up in the South Carolina Lowcountrywhere storytelling and haunted plantations and things like ghostsand boo hags are as much a way of life as iced tea and humidity.Since Im a writer and I love a good ghost story, it was inevitablethat I would write about ghosts.
The longer reason is the research. In orderto understand who or rather what entity haunts a place, you have toknow the backstory. This means you have to put together a detailedhistory about a place.
There is nothing I enjoy more than learningabout how a historic house or hotel or asylum or prison came to bebuilt, who inhabited it, and what happened to the inhabitants. Theresearch proves especially intriguing in regards to what kind ofparanormal activity has been detected and by whom and for how longand how recently.
Usually, places are haunted due to theirrich historymurder, betrayal, love, greed, lust, war, disease, tragedy, death, duels, gambling disputesand the list goes on. Thetheory is that spirits that died tragically may have unfinishedbusiness so they linger where they died.
