James A. Cox, Midwest Book Review

while the words adventure travel mayconjure up images of the remote or the foreign, a new book suggeststhat some wild rides are much closer to home. Zepke documents thesupernatural in A Ghost Hunters Guide to the Most HauntedHouses in America. As she points out, Who else but anadventurous and brave soul would dare to spend time in a haunteddwellingand pay good money to do so?

Sarah Robbins, Publishers Weekly

From a lunatic asylum to a brewery, ghostlypresences inhabit all these places. Complete directions and siteinformation is provided. Even if you dont get a chance to visiteach of these locations, the stories and the black-and-white photosare fascinating.

Marcella Gauthier, EscapeesMagazine

You dont have to believe in ghosts torealize that certain places in our national history are hauntedwith legends and spirits of long ago. Terrance Zepke grew up inSouth Carolina knowing the tales of colonial pirates, Civil Warlegends, the impact of lowcountry voodoo, and the famous residentsof weathered cemeteriesplaces you probably best not visit atnight, Shes written books such as Coastal South Carolina:Welcome to the Lowcountry, Best Ghost Tales of South Carolina,Pirates of the Carolinas, and her latest book, A GhostHunters Guide to the Most Haunted Places in America, investigates saloons and cemeteries, former sanitariums, andpenitentiaries across America where rumors of strange phenomenonseem to have some bearingTerrance is one of the most schooledexperts on the paranormal in the United States.

Rick Steves, Travel with RickSteves

From Georgia to California, Terrance writesabout places that are home to a ghost or two -- and tells thehorrible tales that led to these creatures remaining close to wherethey died. Her first chapter is about the Trans-Allegheny LunaticAsylum in West Virginia, the place that creeped her out the most inher investigations into the paranormal -- and the one closest towhere I live. It is told that many of the poor souls who died inthe facility -- often from experimental treatments and procedures-- continue to roam the halls. Yawsa.

Teresa Flatley, BoomThis!Magazine

Zepke herself has always loved a good ghoststory and heard many as she was growing up in the Carolinas. Nowshe has many books recording not only the stories she loves butalso the history and photos of the places named. These places haveall been investigated and proven haunted by the most sophisticatedmodern scientific equipment such as EMF detectors, which registerelectrical and magnetic fields, and EVP's (Electronic VoicePhenomenon), which digitally records sounds the human ear cannotdetect. Each place Zepke writes about has all the tour contactinformation also and many black and white photos. A fun way to plana trip, if you aren't afraid!

Bonny Neely (Top 1,000 AmazonReviewer)

This book was full of so many great facts andfigures as well as photos of some truly scary looking places. WhileI have not visited any of these places, after reading this I ammore apt to seek them out, especially with a daughter that lovesscary things. The book was well written, short and to the point, but the author does not leave out any detail. Zepke does a greatjob at describing the locations completely and gives you as areader a clear glimpse into what you can expect (or not expect)when you visit these locations. It was well written and for anyonewho loves haunted places, this is definitely the book for you!

Dad of Divas (Top 500 AmazonReviewer)

This book gave me goosebumps all over. Itaccurately describes places in real life that are haunted by ghostsand even tells you a bit about the ghosts themselvesThe scariestthing about this book is you can actually visit these locations. Ifyou want to see some ghosts on vacation, then this book is a musthave in the planning stages. It will tell you where to go and whatto look out for when you get there. My only suggestion is to becareful, a lot of the events around these ghosts are historicalfacts which may send more than just a chill down your spine.

Amazon Reader Review

If you like the paranormal, youll love thisbookI like how the author gives the history of each place, helpingme to understand the why of the hauntings. The fun facts wereenlightening. I like that the addresses and websites were included, making it simpler to do more research, or in my case, checking onavailability. Im a sucker for a good scare.

Julie Baswell (Amazon ReaderReview)

a journalist by training, she [Zepke] takesyou on a tour of the Trans-Allegheny Lunatic Asylum in WestVirginia, the Birdcage Theatre in Arizona, and the Colonial ParkCemetery in Georgia, among a dozen other places
